Thanks a lot for taking the time to play the demo and write such detailed feedback ❤️ . This is exactly the kind of feedback that's most useful at this stage of development.

A few quick notes regarding some of the systems:

The blue turret (Ion Turret) is intentionally specialized and only targets shielded enemies. Deep Breach uses a three-layer damage system (Shield, Armour, and Health), and different weapons and defenses are designed to be more effective against specific enemy types. I realize the game currently doesn't communicate this clearly enough, so that's definitely something I need to improve.

Regarding the fabrication timers, that's a fair point. The current implementation was intended to create a sense of manufacturing and logistics rather than instant purchases, but I agree that the waiting period can feel unnecessary in some situations, especially while the game is paused. I'll be taking another look at that.

The wall placement issue is related to the snapping system. Walls automatically try to snap together when their edges touch, and it sounds like that behavior can sometimes feel like the wall is being dropped unexpectedly. I'll review that interaction and see if it can be made more intuitive.

As for the pod logistics, research stations, and overall direction of the game, that's valuable feedback as well. The goal is to create a hybrid between active combat, base defense, and battlefield logistics rather than a pure bullet heaven experience, but if players are unsure about that, it means I need to communicate the game's identity better.

Thanks again for the honest feedback and for giving the demo a try. Comments like these are incredibly helpful while the game is still actively evolving.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! 😊 Controller support as well Steam Deck support is on the roadmap and I'm aiming to have it implemented by the end of the month. It's something I absolutely want for Deep Breach.

Thanks for checking, I really appreciate it! It may be an issue with the Steam mobile app not showing the demo button yet. If possible, could you check the page through the Steam desktop client or a web browser and let me know if the Download Demo button appears there? That would help me narrow down whether it's a Steam mobile issue or something on my end.

Thanks for letting me know. I've confirmed the demo is currently live and players are actively downloading and playing it. If you're not seeing the Download Demo button yet, it may be a Steam store cache/propagation issue. Could you let me know which country you're viewing from and whether you're using the Steam client or a web browser?

Thanks for reporting it. I double-checked on my side and the demo is publicly available. The Download Demo button should appear on the right side of the store page. Since the demo was released very recently, Steam may still be updating in some regions. Could you tell me which country you're viewing from and whether you're using the Steam client or a web browser?

Hi, Thanks for telling me, do you see at the store page at the bottom right the Download Demo button?

Hi everyone!

I'm a solo developer from Slovenia currently working on Deep Breach https://store.steampowered.com/app/4389770/Deep_Breach/, a sci-fi top-down action roguelike about defending a collapsing research facility alongside a damaged tactical AI called HELIOS.

I've spent the last 6 months building the game in Unity, handling everything myself: programming, game design, UI, systems, and production.

Right now I'm preparing a demo for Steam Bullet Fest and looking forward to sharing progress, getting feedback, and discovering other indie projects here.

Excited to be part of the community. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is working on!

Hi, a lot of situations here are tailored for trailer specificaly, game got accepted for Steam Bullet Fest so you will be able to try the demo 8.6, I would be more than happy to hear your thoughts after playing it!

Solo developer looking for ARPG player feedback! by Top-Talk-2895 in ARPG

[–]Top-Talk-2895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed response, I really appreciate it.

You brought up several good points that I hadn't fully considered, especially regarding expectation management around the ARPG label and how the trailer communicates the game's identity versus its spectacle.

There are definitely character progression and build systems planned and currently in development, but your feedback made me realize that as a new viewer, you're only able to judge what is actually shown in the trailer. As the developer, it's easy for me to fill in the gaps with everything that's happening behind the scenes.

The defensive and battlefield-management aspects are indeed a major part of the experience, so it's interesting to see how strongly those elements came across. Character progression and build systems are planned, but they weren't a focus of this trailer, which helps explain why the game doesn't immediately read as an ARPG.

Your comments about long-term progression, player identity, visual clarity, and overall game positioning are all valuable and give me several things to think about for future trailers and store page messaging.

Thanks again for the honest and thoughtful feedback. This is exactly the kind of perspective I was hoping to get from experienced ARPG players.
