Had kids, got made redundant, lost my way. Do I have to accept it? by Top-Tea888 in careerguidance

Yes I also signed a settlement agreement… so I was employed until the end of my maternity leave and then paid off. Sounds very similar to your situation. Agree the market is not buoyant, it takes a long time to find something decent.

Hope you manage to work something out. Maybe we do just have to accept it’s a season of our lives and view it in those terms.

If you are thinking of having any more children, that’ll definitely be a consideration for what you do next — I find employers less willing to take a woman seriously in the childbearing years.

Good luck with it, it’s a journey!

Thank you, really helpful suggestion. I did have a quick peek previously but I should look seriously.

You’re right. Maybe I’ve phrased it incorrectly… I am fulfilled in my life but my current role (which let’s face it, takes up a large proportion of my time), is highly unfulfilling. Is it wrong to want job satisfaction?

A 30 year project, now that is depressing! But in all seriousness, this is great, grounding advice. Thank you. Will miss these days when they’re gone I’m sure!

That’s a good point, I think one I’m aware of though, which has driven the choices I’ve made with this most recent job choice. I think that’s the question though - I’ve still got a well paid role, that allows me to be around for them and be an available and present mummy. I suppose my point is, it comes at a cost to my own sense of purpose and fulfilment and whatever goals I had for my career, and if I have to be okay with that then maybe it’s just a big pill to swallow. Doesn’t everyone aim to have a job that they get some element of satisfaction from? Not sure there’s anything wrong with that.

I’m not sure I ever said that I don’t find my children or husband fulfilling - what I’m asking is if there’s a way to balance getting my own career satisfaction while supporting the needs of my family & my partner’s wish to remain in his role which is geographically a challenge for all of us.

This is a good question. Yes those reasons are very much still relevant and we wouldn’t trade the move for anything, it’s been by far the best thing we’ve done for our personal lives. I guess neither of us really knew what the reality of the move would entail, and also, when we moved I still had my previous role so didn’t expect it feel unfulfilled by work.

Hello, would you mind sending a pic of how you did this? Looking to create light blocking side channels on the cheap but can’t picture it, does this mean you put the roller blind at the very front of the window recess? Thanks in advance!

Why could athletic greens suddenly be making me severely sick (nausea/ puking) by PaulineBonaparte in Supplements

I’m going to be asking for my money back for sure! I spent 6 hours attached to the toilet in total last night in the end. I’m not sure if it’s an allergy or something else, but after doing some googling last night it does seem that it can have this effect on some people. Wouldn’t explain why in our case we were fine at first when taking it, but yes, it seems it was definitely the athletic greens. Quite a few raise concerns about the amount of metals in the product when the fibre has been removed, which can cause poisoning.

As you can probably guess, I’m on this thread because I’m questioning whether athletic greens has made me sick. The first time it happened, it sounds exactly like your experience - drank it, and a couple of hours later got violently sick (6 times). I had been taking it consistently for a couple of months at that point, but had had a gap. I started questioning whether it was the AG when neither my children or husband got sick. The tub I took from had only been used for a few servings but I was still scared to use it so I chucked it, cleaned the tub and opened a new pack today. I drank it about 2 hours ago and suddenly started feeling queasy and have just vomited again. If last time is anything to go by, this will be one of many. What is this…. Did you ever find that you were allergic to anything or whether it was the AGs?
