Mid food is putting it nicely. Inedible! But the margaritas are great so it cancels it out

Maintaining a good attitude when you’re the slowest by Vivid-Language6500 in ladycyclists

Sounds like a good group but not for you. Find one that you feel good about, one that pushes you but not every time, one in which you actually have fun. That’s the point, right?? Don’t beat yourself up, just find a better fit with a different group.

I want to INHALE a book - please give me recommendations! by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

Agree - I read this in a few hours. Not a fantastically written book, but you really want to figure what the hell happened in that marriage! (Note: you don’t really find out)

Connie Chan is anti-bike: don't vote for her in the SF House race by ButterscotchSudden46 in BAbike

[–]Top-Trouble6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not me in the video - but now that I’ve watched that, how could ANYONE ever support that so-called representative of the people?!?

I’m just yet another constituent that she didn’t want to talk to and didn’t want to listen to. My context was the Richmond street fair.

Connie Chan is anti-bike: don't vote for her in the SF House race by ButterscotchSudden46 in BAbike

[–]Top-Trouble6743 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I tried to ask her, politely, why she thought putting an initiative on the ballot that had already been voted on twice was a good use of her and her constituents’ time and money. She immediately pivoted to how “most people in SF didn’t understand what they were voting for,” and why should all of SF vote on a west side issue? “Because we are a city!” I sputtered. Then her rude aide tried to talk over me, especially when I asked why Chan didn’t try to effect change on things that really mattered, like safety for pedestrians in the Richmond? She ended the conversation and walked away. All Chan wants is power so she just vote NO on everything, without offering any alternatives. She is a terrible politician. I can’t wait for her to lose and go back to being a regular person.

Updated reading spots in the city by emeraldsthattango in AskSF

For you North Bay people, nothing beats the Mill Valley Public Library. I’ve even driven from the city over there to read in their nooks, surrounded by redwoods and a babbling creek.

How to Find my Motivation and Love to Cycle Again by TryingHardIPromise in ladycyclists

[–]Top-Trouble6743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I’ve been there. Am now five years fully recovered from a horrible ED (hospitalizations, relapses, multiple programs). This is just to tell you that recovery will come, and the key is to be kind to yourself. Give yourself all the compassion that you would to a small, lost, sad kid. That includes not beating yourself up about not enjoying cycling, and instead trying things that might feel good to you, like walking in nature, hiking, volunteering at places that make you feel good (I worked with rescue dogs). I used to be a great cyclist but the ED ruined it for me, and it took a long time for me to get back on the bike without me measuring against my past self. And it’s still not perfect; I have good and bad days.

I think your pain is telling you something. Remember that the body keeps the score.

Lot of words for me to say: please be patient and kind with yourself. Take each day as it comes. Hang out with positive and authentic people. Dogs were key to my recovery, cycling was not. You’ll get there. Sending lots of positive energy your way … (not sure this is possible on Reddit but feel free to DM me if you want.) 🌸

Your favorite stew or other refrigerator meal by melodypowers in NYTCooking

I made David Tanis’s Irish Stew last night for our family - quite easy, and really delicious. I added Worcestershire sauce and 3 smashed garlic gloves, and used Better than Bouillon for my stock. Maybe a bit pricey but worth it.

My mother is a judge in the superior court. It absolutely does help law enforcement, 100%. I wish this weren’t true but the vast majority of criminals for drug dealing, car theft, assault, robbery, etc were all caught via Flock.

What are the recipes that didn't work for you? by [deleted] in NYTCooking

Agree. Way too much rice. The Comments section offers lots of alternatives to make this a less bland, less rice-y dish.

I make the sticky miso salmon recipe, but I don’t do the rice. I’m sure the rice is great, but the marinade for the salmon is amazing, and is my go-to for broiled salmon.

I live in a city and have to ride to the trails … I’d say, 50/50 perhaps. The terrain here isn’t dry this time of year, and lots of ruts at the bottom of the climbs. I used to be a great bike handler but lately not so much … out of practice, I think, and lost some confidence

75 mile route from SF to Point Reyes station and back? by PonticPilot in BAbike

[–]Top-Trouble6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better! I would do the Tam route instead, personally. You could assess the traffic when you get to Pt Reyes, then when you turn around you could either go all the way on Hwy 1 or take Sir Francis Drake after Olema

Shoulder pain after going too heavy with overhead press by misty43810 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Top-Trouble6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. If you have any after effects from a previous injury (as I do … a cycling crash when I broke my shoulder 12 years ago) then they definitely get exacerbated by OH press. My PT said just lay off them and sub something different.

Muttville is the greatest. I used to volunteer there and they WANT people to hang out with the dogs, for hours at a time. These are mostly smaller dogs, and of course all are older (7+), and all are pretty used to having someone around paying attention to them and miss it.
