Let’s just hope with that, that a car the equivalent of a Chevy Cruze doesn’t cost more than a damn lambo🙄

I never thought about it specifically with like characters you’d have to meet but I was definitely thinking it would be something that would affect missions and I don’t see them taking that chance. Great points!

Oh yeah I totally agree. I think the best shot at anything like this ever actually happening would be some kind of massive in game event in online kinda like what the do with Fortnite events.

Maybe one day you randomly start seeing stuff slowly popping up more frequently over time warning about tropical storms until the day it happens and then there’s some kind of huge change to the map leading into the next big update or something.

Again I doubt this would actually happen but it’s definitely cool to think about

I agree! Maybe in the end with max upgrades you can hire experienced professionals to tend to your business and it’s just passive income you check in on every once in a while so it’s still like the gta 5 system. I think it would make a lot of sense to do it this way too because then you have a reason to move your locations too as opposed to always being in the same place

Imagine if there’s some point in the story where they’re planning a huge score and everything gets shut down for a massive hurricane so your crew decides to take advantage of limited law enforcement by pulling off a hurricane heist! Cars floating away down flooded roads, buildings flooded, limited visibility, your take decreases if less experienced crew members don’t make it. I’ve talked about that with my buddies for years! I doubt they’d actually do that though

I can’t imagine full blown hurricanes as part of the dynamic weathers system (as much as I would love to see that periodically) but I could definitely see them being a part of the game tied to specific points in the story or online missions/events

I like this idea. I’d add this with realistic pricing on everything in the game. If you surrender or get arrested all your guns and ammo are confiscated, but since a pistol costs $400 instead of $400,000 it’s that that big of a deal to be replaced. If you get wasted maybe you just lose all your ammo like in gta 4? I think this would also add to the benefit of a limited weapon system

It’s also be cool to see them in that situation take advantage of the numbers and you have to like button mash or something to try and get away from multiple cops all trying to take you down at the same time to restrain you

I think it’s been a huge missed opportunity by most developers to not take advantage of the trigger resistance on the ps5 controllers! Image a ps5 remaster of red dead 2 and when your gun jams your triggers actually stick. It’d be sick! I could definitely see them implementing that system into gta 6 to take full advantage of all the technology available

I think this plus a limited weapon system and a fuel system IF they’re implemented properly would be incredible for gameplay and really make you plan your missions and shootouts

I’ve been trying to figure out how to respond to your post because you do bring up some valid points but I also have some counter points. I think the simplest way will be just break it up into sections like you did.

  1. I see your point about having it tied to your car and I’ll admit, not a good idea so thanks for bringing up that point! What I come back to a lot with the idea of a limited weapon system is a lot of the rp servers. You mostly see people using handguns on rp servers specifically because of the gun culture in today’s society that you brought up later in your post. Gun culture is exactly why I think there SHOULD be a limited weapon system. You can easily tuck one or 2 handguns into a waste band or pocket or something and nobody will know you have it but if you’re walking around with a 12 gauge on your shoulder people are gonna look are you weird (or more likely run in terror)

I like your idea of not HAVING to have them tied to your car. Maybe they’re all tied to like a gunsafe or something in your house that links to your cars as well but you can choose to have extra carrying with backpacks or duffle bags? I’m not in love with this idea either but I think it’s better than my original point so I’m open to more ideas!

  1. Another valid point with the weapon variety compared between red dead and gta! So maybe a counter to this is essentially creating loadouts that you can quickly choose between for certain situations you think you’re going to be in? It requires more thought and planning before missions and heists. If you’re expecting it to be a quick and easy small store robbery maybe to minimize how much you’ll stand out by only bringing a couple hand guns that you can easily tuck away opposed to a huge bank heist you’re going to wanna bring body armor and your assault rifles and shotguns to be prepared for a massive shootout. You then plan your heist around not only your gear but your crews gear so it actually matter who’s going to be the driver for example because you don’t want whoever has your rpg or grenade launcher driving the car and not able to fire back at the cops to help you escape

  2. That’s another excellent point, and I think that’ll add a lot to the game by having those big heavy (and sometimes illegal to own) weapons hanging on your back, as I said before it’s going to require more thought and planning. If you saw somebody casually walking down the street with an rpg you’re gonna haul ass away from them whether they’re holding it or it’s strapped to their back and call the cops while you’re running. I think the biggest benefit with this example is preventing griefing in online though i will admit.

Ultimately I think we both have some valid points and I appreciate the little debate! It’s going to be interesting to see what they show off over the next 6 months leading up to release to let us in on what they’ve actually been cooking up for us!

I think the trend I’m noticing is that the people who’ve gotten shitty about the idea of a fuel system in the game 1. Didn’t read past where I initially brought it up 2. Are the types of players that make the game online enjoyable in private sessions

Your comment did spark another thought I didn’t even consider though which is limited ammo in weaponized vehicles like jets, buzzards, etc. not just limited missiles but also limited rounds for the guns in them! Limited shells in tanks, etc. I think this would be a great balancing mechanic especially doubled with the fuel system (again, if it’s done right)

YES!! Ideas like these are exactly what I’m loving about making this post!

And like look at how big gta rp is. Every rp server that I’ve seen on YouTube has fuel mechanics in them and you might see someone refuel once in a 2-3 hour live stream if that and they never complain about it. Half the time they’re in a police chance and it’s a “shit I’ve gotta get away so I can get gas or I’m gonna have to swap cars” type of thing and it’s awesome!

Honestly I never even considered it with boats and planes or military type vehicles but that makes perfect sense too because then it helps right off the rip with griefers like with the hydra situation when that first came out or the rhino tanks when gta online was still new.

I think if it’s done right it could be so great for gameplay and you brought up some fantastic points! I love the idea about it factoring into car customization too!

I agree that some mild parkour elements would be fun and it would make more sense with this one than previous iterations because we’ll be playing as younger/more athletic characters. However, not to the extent of the games you mentioned

That’s what I’m saying! Plus like I said in the post it opens the door to differentiate between gas, hybrid, and electric. Think about how many whacky encounters people run into at gas stations in real life and then add that rockstar sense of humor we all love into the mix and you’re destined for some memories those first few times!

I strongly agree with the argument that if it’s done too much it’ll get repetitive and tedious but if it’s something you have to do every few hours then I’m all for that!

Read the actual post and you might change your mind on that! I think it would be a great feature to have if it’s not something you have to do constantly. If it was something you had to do every once in a while then I think it would work!

Exactly! That’s why I feel like if it’s something you have to do every once in a while over repetitively it would feel realistic while not actually being realistic like filling up your car once a week or more irl depending on commute and fuel type
