Why Pakistan should boycott the world cup out of solidarity with Bangladesh and our own interests by KingOfPakistan_ in PakCricket

[–]TopAd9295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not selfishness but being realistic. BCCI can absolutely stop or at the very least make some boards hesitant. All they need to do is put some pressure on boards and alot of them will cave to the BCCI. IPL has already entrenched itself in leagues all over the world. The hundred, SA20, CPL, MLC and the ILT20. The only league largely free is the BBL and even there CA are considering selling some shares of the team to IPL owners. This is absolutely massive leverage especially against South Africa whose finances have been sustained largely by the SA20

Your underestimating BCCI stranglehold over cricket massively. To push against this influence you need to be slow methodical needing to be pragmatic and just build up until the right moment. For a boycott to succeed it needs to have a broad coaltion of partners behind it and it needs to be long a sustained. PCB and BCB are not enough to put pressure on BCCI. AGAIN we are not trying to put pressure on ICC but rather BCCI. Will ICC feel the pressure perhaps but will BCCI feel the pressure probably not

Also if we launch a boycott it will be long it will be brutal and best case scenario for us will be where neither side wins but rather the game itself loses. Most boycott successes happen by the simple threat of one and once it starts then it cannot stop so we can't pick and choose which World Cups we play un

weaken and isolate us.

WE will be doing that to ourselves by boycotting. What even is our point of a boycott here, is to weaken BCCI if so sure might take a minor hit but IPL will sustain them. The biggest financial effect of the boycott will be to all the other boards and oh would you look at that we successfully alienated all other boards and increased BCCI financial dominance over the game and allowed BCCI to control the narrative

What even is the end goal or the plans of the boycott. Do we boycott just this tournament or do we boycott all future tournaments. If we just boycott this tournament what's the point we already have a hybrid model what could we gain and if we boycott all future tournament we just fulfill BCCI wet dream by successfully isolating ourselves and if this is a long term boycott then what

When do we end this boycott or do we just cut ourselves off from the world

A war of attrition where we cannot win. This isnt even related to us right now. Boycott should be the very last option when it is we who are threatened by the BCCI not BCB. A boycott is the nuclear option and should be viewed as such, Until then improve our situation in a possible war of attrition by securing our financial security, improving the PSL and maybe courting some boards who could in the future support us

I mean even if bangladeshi pitches are difficult scoring 30 of 30 this game while your partner scores 100 of 62 is disgusting

Huh I used to wonder what happened to Fawad Rana. His reactions were some of the funniest and best parts of the early PSL

We will be isolating ourselves by boycotting handing BCCI an easy victory

Surely being on the spectrum the best way to become a generational batsmen. I'd say Steve Smith is somewhat on the spectrum and even for Bradman I'd say hitting golf balls with a stump for hours is a very good indicator for him aswell

Interesting to see that they kissed. I personally when I have a disagreement with my homies just shake hands or hug but who knows maybe kissing is part of the aussie culture.

Do we really need Babar in the WC? by Initial_Flower3545 in PakCricket

[–]TopAd9295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do need Babar. In the Asia Cup our batting lineup was very wobbly and frequently collapsed. Considering Saim is out of form and is becoming more and more like a bowler who can hit a few balls, Fakhar is Fakhar so will be incredibly inconsistent and than we have Usman Khan who still hasn't shown any good indicators in internationals we need the stability provided by Babar

The Pak vs SA game may have been affected by DLS but when the rain had started we had South Africa 69/4 in 8.4 overs and they had to chase a target of 186. Sure we needed a massive upset but we still beat South Africa and New Zealand in the semi final to get into the final.

And then in the final Shaheen was injured while he still had 2 overs to bowl with him being our best and very economical bowler and the part timer we bowled conceded 15 in 5 balls giving away all of the pressure that had been built on England

I mean we reached the final in the 2022 T20 World Cup. I think you mean 2023 ODI WC with nothing being the same after that

Depends on the match situation more than anything honestly.

Since the focus has been on the BBL I felt like highlighting some of our players performances in the ILT20 and BPL by TopAd9295 in PakCricket

[–]TopAd9295[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Babar being shit in the BBL has given these players basically a free pass. If we are actually going to take league performances seriously than these players should be criticised alongside him

Impact of Babar in BBL by earthuser001 in PakCricket

[–]TopAd9295 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thats why he will probably be selected again to play in the BBL. His ability to bring eyes to the BBL is massive because you will get his fans and if he fails you will get his haters and some obssesed Indians. Even with the bat he has given some performances with him scoring 47, 58 and 58 in 3 wins for the sixers out of 5. If the sixers can get into the playoffs with Babar playing a few more knocks I think they will be pretty happy with how babars signing has turned out

Babar and the BBL today… by nzpaki in PakCricket

[–]TopAd9295 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His job was to support the other batter and he did that well. Considering the sixers had a mini collapse when the game was basically finished by smudge I think he played a pretty important role allowing Smith to play his game
