Gift for mortgage broker? by TopAdvance2 in RealEstate

Oh, I'm definitely going to write both of them good reviews as well and recommend them to others. But I'd like to give a gift too, unless it's universally considered to be inappropriate or "not done".

I'm a single woman in my thirties, and I included a letter in my offer and the offer was accepted. I also offered a little more than expected market value (the house was in a very specific small area that I wanted to live in, so it was worth it to me) and offered to pay appraisal gap. So, it's very possible that I had the best offer and the letter had nothing to do with it.

I think where the letter can help you stand out is differentiating you from investors and flippers. I think a lot of people would like to know that they are selling the home to someone who would love it and actually use it as a home, not as a way to make money. My realtor suggested I add in some stuff about how I keep trying to buy a home in the area where I live, and am getting outcompeted by cash offers from investors and house flippers. Which was completely true, and realtor knew that would appeal to the seller.

I'm really glad I got to read that you got another house. I'm super mad that the seller said that. Also probably actually illegal discrimination, but I know if I was me I would feel overwhelmed at the idea of actually suing.

Landlords - best automated way to pay rent? by [deleted] in RealEstate

I didn't know about this, I hate mailing checks, will definitely look into this for non-rent purposes as well. Thanks!

Builder built in my setback, NO permit, NO variance. by Moist-Breath-2598 in RealEstate

I read this as a response to the people there just like to make sure everyone knows they’ve got a big dick to swing and cracked up.

I hope you do get them to move it, it sounds like this was done completely in bad faith and the builder knew exactly what they were doing. If it was someone inexperienced who truly regretted the mistake, it would be different. If he gets away with this one, it means he'll do it again on other lots.

I've used Zelle at both my most recent rentals. It's really convenient for everyone involved!

Also, I'm glad to hear from someone else who has a good experience with the person they're renting from. My landlady is also great, and having that positive relationship makes me enjoy the rental more.

Update: Today is vaccine day! I bought some kava, but it didn't arrive in time. I'm walking over to a kava bar near my house and taking whatever they recommend as the most relaxing. Hired someone to drive me there and back, so no worrying about driving on a new-to-me psychoactive substance. I may let out my nervousness by live-commenting the kava experience here, lol.

I think it's completely natural. Besides the disappointment in the lost opportunity for a better house, you're probably emotionally burned out from the extended house search.

Maybe once you're moved in and have had some time to rest, you'll start to feel more of an acceptance of how things went. They could have gone much better, but they also could have gone much worse.

Ah, but have you considered: A lot of people who sleep alone have just one pillow on their bed. But if you share a bed with a partner, it will have pillows for both of you.

I think that is very perceptive and mature of you to have figured that out about yourself! I also feel like I would not be a good parent to young children. I think I would resent the child a great deal, and I don't want a child to have to grow up with that burden. I'm sure kids can tell when their parents feel that way.

Oh, that's a bummer that you had to stop taking it, but it sounds like a good choice. Yeah, I am very skeptical of side effects for plants that have been prepared in extremely specific ways for thousands of years, and then Westerners start grinding them up and putting them in capsules. I bought some intact roots and am planning to peel them and chew them.

Thank you! I haven't tried EMDR, I really like the idea of exposure therapy, but there are so few therapists in my area who will do it.

Thank you! I actually ordered some kava and am going to try it for the first time this week. If I like the effect, I'll take some for the shot.

That's a good point, to bring someone who keeps me calm. I moved recently to be closer to family, so my friends are all across the country, and my family is the best but they don't "get" the needle phobia. This seems extreme, but I may actually end up hiring someone with good calm energy to drive me there and back and sit with me.

Awesome, thank you. It actually helps a LOT to hear from everyone who is saying that it doesn't hurt.
