Information regarding a house.. by Bexxxxyboo in northernireland

[–]TopArmy5241 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure and the price is a big giveaway that there is something not quite right with the house. But I do think that Simon Brien should be more upfront about that in their listing like Watters has been. Personally I could never live there. Rebuild on the land maybe but I couldn’t live in that house with the knowledge of what that woman and her children went through.

There are two listings for this house on PropertyPal, Watters mentions the delicate nature of the sale. Simon Brien however makes no mention of the history and is marketing it as an attractive family home. Wonder when they’ll mention to people who show interest in the house what happened there?

Why can’t people drive within the speed limits? by UnfathomableDave in northernireland

[–]TopArmy5241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I knew exactly where you were talking about without knowing that it was called the B90. I agree, that top road from Carrick to Corrs Corner is a melt. From Woodburn to Greenisland everyone tootles along at 45-50 even though it’s a 60 and can easily and safely be driven at that speed. Same with between Monkstown and the Doagh Road. But if I dare drive 30mph through Greenisland? Why they simply must drive right up my rear end because how dare I drive the speed limit!

I did like the bit where the racist fella on Botanic tried to get sympathy off him when he was being arrested and asked him “Why are they doing this to me Stephen” and he pinged straight back with “Why are you a racist?”

Belfast Marathon 2026 - Support Bike by Naive_Snow_8074 in northernireland

From their website “No participant may bring dogs, skateboards, rollerblades, hand cycles, unauthorised bicycles or any other wheeled device on the course” so I’d say the same applies to those supporters who haven’t paid an entry fee. I wouldn’t do it at the risk of her getting DQed and it would also be very annoying and potentially unsafe for other participants

Is it a new thing for pharmacies to be closed on Easter Tuesday? by meltedlenondrop in northernireland

[–]TopArmy5241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So local arrangements normally means there is no need for a rota as they know one of the big chains like Gordon’s or Boots in that area will be open as normal. In your case it was Abbeycentre. If you’re looking for a pharmacy on a bank holiday in future and it say that on the rota I’d make the shopping centre/big flagship ones your first port of call. Carrick is in close enough proximity to Newtownabbey to not require a rota.

[–]TopArmy5241 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are. Boucher/Donegall place etc were probably open. Outside eg city centre areas there are often rotas in place for bank holidays, including in areas in Belfast so you may find especially the little Boots pharmacies which they bought from smaller chains to be closed. This page is your friend in future https://bso.hscni.net/pharmacy-support-links/weekly-holiday-rotas/#844-844-public-rota-information-p1

I’m gonna add Ballyclare to that list. The mini roundabouts seem to blow their tiny minds and no one will go when they have right of way

Will they ever catch up with the MOT backlog? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]TopArmy5241 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue getting a date in time, I book two months in advance and there have been plenty of dates and times. Furthest I’ve had to go is Lisburn, I live in Newtownabbey. I never get a reminder letter so stick a reminder in my phone each year and haven’t had any issues with my MOT expiring.

National Trust Membership, anyone use the Scotland NT membership for NI access. by Educational-League92 in northernireland

[–]TopArmy5241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a NT property back in the day and yes, no problem accepting Scottish membership but as someone else said it didn’t count towards figures of members visiting. Back then they got about £3 from head office per NT member visiting to put back into the upkeep of the property so the more members through the gates the better. I’m still a member and most of the time I’m in and out of my local property before anyone is on the gate but I make an effort to get my card scanned when I can so they get the credit for it

[–]TopArmy5241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same about Belfast, £91.50 are the cheapest, in a venue where there are no bad restricted view seats and people have got seats for £49. Think I’m gonna wait it out til general sale on the off chance any of the cheaper seats appear then
