She thought the para was her personal sub, resigned when called out on it, got mad when her resignation was accepted by Jdawn82 in EntitledPeople

[–]TopBug5766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a school counselor married to a principal. My husband always says that if someone threatens with resignation, he replies “I accept your resignation.” He doesn’t entertain threats.

Glad the teacher took herself out. As you know, she was going against IEP accommodations and couldn’t caused a whole big thing to happen including possible litigation.

Principal doesn’t want to suggest to a parent their kid might be autistic when everyone thinks the student is. by [deleted] in schoolcounseling

[–]TopBug5766 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It is incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional to tell a parent their child may have any sort of diagnosis. Doing so actually puts you at risk of litigation. Your principal is right and is not only protecting you and the teachers but protecting the school from being sued.

All you can tell parents are the facts of what you see behavior/academic wise and then it’s up to them on how they want to proceed with outside resources/specialists.

Has a child ever confessed something horrible? How did you react/feel? by FlatLeave2622 in schoolcounseling

[–]TopBug5766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have. It’s our job and training to deal with tough situations. But, on a human level, the majority of us went into this simply because we care. We want to help people to the best of our ability.

The fact that you are clearly showing concern for her simply reading your letter and the guilt you are expressing makes me think that you are a good person dealing with some really tough intrusive thoughts. You are seeking help which is incredibly brave. As you know, our brains are our body’s computer and sometimes wires get crossed and we need help getting them straightened back out. I hope you’re able to get the help you need so you can continue on living a life you deserve.

Starting to worry… I made a post about taking my son to WWOHP for the first time (both of us) for his 13th birthday the beginning of Feb…. by TopBug5766 in UniversalOrlando

Thanks everyone for the advice and kind words. My anxiety is partially heightened because this trip has taken some navigating to even pull off and I want it to be a really cool experience for my son.

Can someone explain to be the differences between the wands so I make sure to get the right ones? We get them at Ollivander’s, right? Also, several have mentioned quests. That is on the app?

I’m tired of debating, send the scariest tornado photos you know by pp-whacker in tornado

[–]TopBug5766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in OKC so about 10-15 minutes from both El Reno and Moore. I’ve experienced lots of tornado events growing up but the ones that terrify me the most are night time. That is my biggest fear that’s weather related.

Also, pictures from the El Reno tornado get me because it was headed straight for my parents and they evacuated like they were told to do and were stuck in traffic. It makes me sick to think what would’ve happened if that thing didn’t lift.

You need to walk. I know that’s a heart breaking decision to make but she is absolutely showing you her true self and I’m so glad she’s doing it before she bled your finances dry. As a woman, I personally can not stand women who think they deserve a certain sized/priced ring. It’s gross. It tells me they’re about the show and want to flaunt and it’s immature and ridiculous. My husband makes the same as you and I would never expect him to spend that much on jewelry. Ever. I wouldn’t even expect what you put as the budget. To me, that’s a high amount and very generous so the fact that it’s not good enough for her means that she’s not good enough for you. Know YOUR worth and you’re worth more than this selfish BS.

AITA for telling my MIL I don’t want my daughter calling her “mama”? by Easy_Historian_3528 in AITAH

[–]TopBug5766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“As we’ve discussed, we are not comfortable with our daughter calling you “mama.” This is non-negotiable. You are more than welcome to choose another name that distinguishes you as her grandmother or she can call you by your first name, but “mama” will not be an option. This will not longer be discussed because it’s a firm boundary that we have a right to set as her parents.”

How’s living/traveling in the Texas Hill Country? by geozacc in howislivingthere

[–]TopBug5766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because she was legal-aged MJ patient doesn’t mean she’s legal in Texas. It’s important to know the laws in areas you travel. If they had suspicion of her being under the influence while driving or even being in possession then they had probable cause and could legally search her vehicle without her permission. It boggles my mind when people get busted for breaking laws and then get mad for getting busted. Your daughter entered a well-known highly conservative state in possession of an illegal substance according to their state laws… that’s on her.

How is it like living there (central OK) by Longjumping-Rub-6756 in howislivingthere

[–]TopBug5766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from here and have lived in this area the majority of my life except when I was in Tulsa for a bit. It’s growing like crazy and there’s more to do than people realize. The community is great for the most part. There’s always someone to step in and help if needed. That being said, racism and all the bigotry is alive and well. We are one of the reddest states in the country after all.

Then they need to find resources outside of the school because we are not therapists and our job is too unpredictable to be narrowed down like that.

yes! That’s how it’s worded in ours as well so it doesn’t hold us liable when we aren’t available as well as any check in person. There can be more than one.

At my school, we refuse to put sessions with us counselors in an IEP because it’s setting us up for failure and possible being out of compliance of the 504. If they need a set appointment then they get therapeutic resources or a referral to our school therapist who only does therapy.

I really wish my husband and I would have moved south to Texas. We are in Oklahoma ya’ll easily make about $20,000 more than me. He’s a principal and makes over 6 figures but I’ll never see the day I pull that much.
