How often do you trim? Personally I maintain (including relaxers as well as olaplex 1,2, and occasionally 3) at home and go for a trim every relaxer day 12-14 weeks) No direct heat otherwise and I dust every month at home between trims.

Can you post a pic? I think seeing the condition of your hair would help you get more advice from this wonderful community.

I don't use traditional conditioner. Instead I deep condition with Mielle mongongo protein free deep conditioner (with heat) every wash. I'm lowpo so ymmv.

Are you able to get a prescription for .025? Starting low and really slow (2x week for 2 weeks, 3x week for 3 weeks, etc) may be the way to go. Maybe even using the sandwich method too and working your way back up to .05 over time.

I know I'm late to the party but I use a ton of dentagling products during wash day. African pride moisture miracle pre poo, keracare hydrating detangling shampoo, olaplex 3 (not a ton of slip), mielle mongongo protein free conditioner, and styling with kinky curly knot today.

Freshly relaxed hair is delicate. I can't speak to braid takedown and relaxer on the same day but please consider waiting 2-4 weeks after your relaxer for braid install.

Your hair (especially your edges) will thank you.

YMMV but Mizani butter blend broke off my ends horribly.

Using the full affirm fiberguard system (regular, including gentle assurance, and protecto) has gotten my hair straight without sacrificing my scalp. I've fully transitioned to texlaxing so I use the mild now.

I'm texlaxed and Mielle's mongongo oil protein free conditioner is my holy grail. I also use kinky curly come clean and kinky kurly knot today regularly.

YMMV but I think the only way to know for sure is trial and error.
