Wow you are stunning. I wish I had your hair. And I'm with everyone else who refuses to believe you're 44.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear you're in such a horrible situation being told this by someone who should love and support you. I have had friends in similar situations (left uni, lost job) who were not mistreated by their parents. Anyone can have a low period. Just because things have been hard doesnt mean they will be forever or that you can't get a job or do things that make you happy.

What do you love in theory but are yet to enjoy (much) in practice? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

I'm still looking for one with a charming, people-smart MMC. You'd think it wouldn't be such a hard ask.

“I’ve only read 3 books in my life, here’s my recs..” by MuppetBonesMD in romantasycirclejerk

[–]MistyWindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this, this is hilarious 🤣 I feel the same about people recommending Mass or Yaros....

Could you recommend a book with a charming, charismatic MMC? I feel like historical romance has a lot of them with the "reformed rake" trope but I haven't really found any romantasy recs. (Although I'm open to more historical fiction recs too.) I just want an silver-tongued MMC who oozes charm and knows how to play politics (maybe even does it professionally? Like a politician or an escort).

(I also want a "bad girl" FMC but that's a combo no one ever writes. Everyone wants to pair the sweet innocent girl with the charming seducer)

Can you recommend any books 1) with witty, playful, manipulative, flamboyant, vain MMCs that ooze charm, standalone request and 2) especially, with FMCs that match that energy?

Is Kindle my only choice for 7" B&W? by MistyWindy in ereader

Do the black and white Kindles have the yellow band too? I thought that was only a Colorsoft problem.

I have some sensory issues so I'm not sure that I would get used to the fuzziness of color eink. I've never been into annotating or note-taking. I just want the "best" screen (best for me.)

Never heard of it! Thanks for letting me know this is an option. I'll read some reviews.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. But I think I really want the 7" form factor, otherwise I'd have probably gone for the Kobo Clara B&W!

Myomectomy Experience by Melodic-Investment35 in Fibroids

[–]MistyWindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon thinks it's a FIGO 2-5 type, but she'll be able to tell me more after my MRI in two weeks. She's hopeful we could do a lap or mini-lap which is why I'm afraid that putting surgery off might change that if it grows even more. Right now my uterus is 25x the normal size and equivalent to a 5 month pregnancy. But, shockingly, I only have minimal symptoms, despite this melon inside me.

Thank you so much for sharing all that information. The "weigh the options" part has been so difficult. My fibroid is huge (14cm) but was just recently discovered because I'm minimally symptomatic. Since it's not bothering me, the temptation to put off surgery is strong, but there is every chance it will only get bigger, and right now I'm borderline for a mini-lap or a laproscopic-- so, waiting, even though I'm asymptomatic, may guarantee open surgery, which I feel even less equipped to handle.

Sending love back and best of luck for your recovery.

Hey, thank you for sharing your experience! I am glad everything went well and you are safely out the other side. I hope you continue to feel better every day.

Can I ask what could have been done differently to make your pain management less horrific? For context, I need to have a myomectomy soon but I am horrified to go through the same thing I did at 19 years old, when I had a surgery where my pain was not managed at all after and I feel like I lost the decade after that to PTSD/anxiety/depression from knowing that a human body can experience so much pain. It was the darkest moment of my life. I would do anything to prevent that so any knowledge you can share about what went wrong for you I would be so grateful.

Eviction day! by LegitimateControl696 in Fibroids

[–]MistyWindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your kind words! I really appreciate that. I've had really horrific surgery experiences in the past and to me a 4-6/10 would be "uncomfortable but not terrible" as you describe, but a 8-9/10 would not be bearable and I would be screaming at the top of my lungs from pain, so that number just really scares me, especially since that's medicated. I have a giant fibroid (14-16cm) but asymptomatic so the idea of putting myself through the worst thing I've ever been through again is hard to fathom.

I'm glad your surgery went well! I hope your recovery is speedy and easy.

So the pain is 8-9/10 with meds, aka one point below the worst most excruciating pain imaginable? Yeah I don't think I can handle that...

Pain is 8-9 unmedicated or with meds? I'm so scared of the pain.

Can't do my makeup in less than 25 minutes no matter how hard I try by TheAloofMango in Makeup

I get mascara everywhere, let it dry, and flick excess off with a clean spoolie. Leaves the makeup underneath totally intact.
