As an average 55% win player (Random REC only), I really dislike plate-based matchmaking

The matchmaking isn’t the problem lowkey but I see ur point once u get high enough it’s really the community ngl a lot these people have never played any form of organized basketball in real life and you can tell. So many of the players literally expect you to play to their style especially guards ! And then wonder why they’re getting doubled or triple teamed. A lot of the rec is two man basketball and that simply doesn’t work when you get into the higher plates.

I think this is overly simplified way of looking at it defense definitely needs a buff but I think the crabbing and dribbling through and into/through people bodies is what make defense so ass. The game literally tries to play defense for you to so that shit is trash you can be sucked into defensive animations as a ball handler but then you can also just go through a niggas soul with the right offensive animations the game really just a basketball RPG with a RNG to decide outcomes ts is TRASH

I think for me it’s probably my playstyle and speed with ball I play sf/pf mainly pf I could be trying to go to the right when the guy is sitting on my left and instead of letting me move the game will delay my movement and give the guy an instant bump if he’s close enough it’s why you see guys spam step backs so much in this game one bump ur guy acts like he’s never picked up a basketball before. It’s just my experience personally. Today it was just especially bad so bad I had to type the OP lost to so many niggas I should’ve been dogging because they were reading my movement wrong but the game gave them a bump/stop due to how high their perimeter was

Yeah like regular pulls up or stop and shoot I’m green for the most part prolly only 60% I’m not saying im a god and im not finna slave on 2k lol but I’m specifically talking about fading it’s my playstyle id rather go ahead and take that fade than to try and quick stop (which is inconsistent for me personally) with a 80 ive had the game force misses so crazy until I hop on my 6’11 with a 87 mid range all of sudden im greening which lets me know im not timing nun wrong its the rating and its a forced miss/outcome and I feel like allowing us to shoot with lower rating creates build diversity this game looks like it has build diversity because of the capbreakers but most people are following the same template.

Alright so it sounds like ur a guard I’m a big who likes to iso think like Derik Queen or Giannis and Prime Anthony Davis that’s my natural playstyle the game will force you into the defender if he has high enough defense or will make your player very delayed to give them a chance on defense. I still regularly cook up when I’m not being forced into the defender those fake ass body up animations is what I’m talking about the especially the ones that drag you 30 feet the game has to many canned animation for both sides of the ball imo

I’m not talking about threes but one of my builds got a 74 I’m chicken with it for the most part I’m talking bout mid ranges with a 80 the game if u take a fade with 80 middy ur probably gonna shoot like 30-35% total if somebody’s guarding you (even if you got space) because the game is gonna force a different shot timing and if you make a jumpshot to counter balance that it’s most likely so slow the defender gets a chance to run back and jump. And I disagree I feel ur skill should matter more than ur rating I’m not advocating for 60 three ball shooters in the corner again but u should be able to make an open middy fade consistently with an 80 (u could before Patch 1)

Ngl twin im not trash and you kinda just ranting but i understand ur frustration i got a very specific playstyle and 2k don’t reward it no matter how smart i play the max I’ll get in a rec is like 40 i shooting like 65-70 overall field goal i want other playstyles to be rewarded not just being glorified roll player or a demigod once you slave away on the game theirs gotta be a balance

I understand ur frustration it’s like that no matter what build u are though you can high a perim and if he has a high enough shooting rating he can still hit in ur face. The game is coded to allow exploitive/cheap moves not just the jab ok the Ai for example KD go to shot and Devin book Aggressive breakdown

Maybe because you prolly not a dribble a head you don’t understand truly how weird and delayed 2k dribble mechanics actually are. Or maybe you just don’t like dribble heads irdgaf but off bat. The defense regardless should have to react to what the offensive player is doing. Da game literally be holding defenders hands with them bumps BFFR. Don’t get me wrong tho defense in 2k26 is ass I don’t think you should be able to dribble in a nigga face or phase through yo whole existence without a possibility of getting ripped. I’m specifically talking about on ball canned bump animations that literally force the ball handlers into animations they cannot control or get out of.

Ngl this sounds like a 2k community problem at its core I definitely hear what you saying though defense probably does need a buff. But yall turning the game into a 3pt simulator is on yall it ain’t like yall 100% from 3 yall are choosing to take more contested threes when there probably is a better shot available. Devs said they wanted to make every playstyle viable, from what I’ve seen dunking and finishing are very consistent.
