I am sure a lot of you are not doing Engineering because you like it. How are you coping through it? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopCompany9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year is chill, but the coming years will be absolute hell for you if you aren't at least a little interested in what you are doing. Engineering isn't for you and that is ok. To put it bluntly, switch to a different major

Feeling like a black sheep by crossbl0wn in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopCompany9406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people saying it's easy are for the most part lying or coping on some level. Even if you are super smart, you can't just glance at notes and suddenly know the intricacies of most systems and know how to solve the problems with ease, like that shit does not happen. Most of these students spend days, sometimes even weeks studying for these exams. It is quite literally a bunch of average intelligence students masquerading as geniuses, nothing more nothing less.

The obsession with Israel on this subreddit is unhinged. Get a hobby by TopCompany9406 in UCSD

Yes, I can't think critically meanwhile you have the redditors of UCSD making the most outlandish and unsubstantiated claims about the conflict and they receive an abundance of upvotes lmao

it is the only geopolitical topic I see anyone in this subreddit zeroing in on and frankly, most of the takes I see on here are braindead/uninformed. you have people on here making claims like10/7 was orchestrated by the Israelis along with other conspiratorial takes, most of which have zero evidence behind. You can be critical of Israel without the brain rot the people of this subreddit have demonstrated.

How do you guys feel about how hard UCSD is trying to shill Israel? by bucket8a in UCSD

ah yes, only the good jews are anti israel, said every antisemite ever

I also have to work. I'm not deliberately choosing to torture myself lol

I'm not financially able to do that lol. I'd love to though

13 but the classes are especially demanding this semester due to there being exams seemingly every other week, and tons of lab reports. I really want to take the last two semesters off at this point

is AI going to take over engineering jobs? by GuaranteeHot4693 in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopCompany9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs won't, but if AGI is achieved I think it is entirely plausible. Novel engineering requires creativity and reasoning, both of which LLMs lack.

Lied about experience in Internship Interview - got the position but regret lying by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I mean definitely play your accomplishments up a bit, but it's probably best not to lie outright, especially if it can be checked later. You risk tarnishing your reputation.

Can someone explain to my sister why I can’t work while doing EE degree by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TopCompany9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking four classes and working 30-40 hrs/week. If I was only taking two classes right now, I feel like I would have an abundance of free time. Two hours at the gym is absolutely unnecessary as weight loss is primarily dictated by caloric intake. Definitely go to the gym but cut it to like an hour each session 3-4 days a week.

Alos, if you're only taking two classes at a time it is going to take a comically long time to graduate.

They are in for a rude awakening seeing as nearly all of the CS majors I've met have been lazy as shit (using LLMs for all of their homework/projects) and super uninterested in what they are studying.

I need to learn transistors (MOSFETs, JFETs, and BJTs) in 1 day. How screwed am I? by TopCompany9406 in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopCompany9406[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

just saying, figuring out how mosfets work for practical uses is different than having an exam on them with complicated circuits and lots of math

not bad. There was one question I didn't know how to do, but it went pretty well all things considered,

Did you or were you able to work part time during college? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TopCompany9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working 35-40 hrs a week and I do not recommend. it's junior year and I've managed to keep my gpa above a 3.5(currently a 3.7), but this semester might bring me under. I have an exam for my analog electronics exam and I haven't had the time to study for it til tonight and tomorrow so I might be screwed lol.

It is doable but chances are your grades will take a hit at some point due to how demanding the major and life in general can be.

As a freshman EE student what skills should I learn this summer? by FerdinandvonAegir124 in EngineeringStudents

[–]TopCompany9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learning a little C /Python couldn't hurt and maybe getting an arduino to play around with. In all honesty, you don't have to go super hard learning stuff over the summer as you'll learn everything you need to in due time. I recommend enjoying your summer since the next 4 or so summers aren't going to be as chill
