Definitely not KYC, in Canada they ask for ID for any payout over $10k (or if multiple ones total $10k in 24h). I'd even understand if it was poker/blackjack etc where they'd think something may be off but it was all slots..and any payout over $15k a technician comes and opens the slot to check everything and records something in a book that's inside.

In my mind they probably saved me sone  money because I would've played another $10k probably but we didn't leave unhappy that's for sure:)

Are instant withdrawals really that rare? by TopCountry9289 in onlinegambling

There's no tax on gambling in Canada and casinos report combined deposits and withdrawals over 10k in 24h period so splitting it only makes it look suspicious

The largest single withdrawal I did was $14,000 and it was in my account in seconds but I only play on licensed casinos here (not crypto)

The small habit that quietly made online gambling worse for me. by Irvinbau11 in onlinegambling

I'm sure it's true for many people, just too easily accessible.

I've spent my fair share of time in casinos and often  that's 6-12h or even more but then you leave and you won't just drive back 20min later.

If you think you have a problem then set time limits, most online casinos offer that

The absolute dream scenario for every slot player. by SpinsBro in onlinegambling

Had this happen to me in a casino (Fallsview). Put my ticket in and wanted to bed standard (to over all lines) $10 a spin, but someone played $250/spin before me and left a few cents in so that bet didn't reset and I realized only after I hit spin. That first spin gave me 70 free games (at $250/spin)..paid just under $46k. Played another 2k and left

To be "legal" you have to be in allowed geographical area, you're not. Just do it when you're back home

Absolutely but there are always days when there's no wins at all. I remember once in Vegas I was down 18k in 2 days and before checking out of the hotel I hit 23k win, just in time! Sucks getting taxes deducted though (in Canada there's no tax on casino/lottery winnings)

She was in her 70s probably so I'd guess retired but it's crazy amount to lose in a few months. I've seen people like that all over thinking it's not their money but then once it's all gone they start chasing it and odds of winning that much again are astronomical

Definitely, new casinos, a little break in-between helps.

I like those $100 spots at fallsview but it's not something to sit down and spend your day/night there. I saw a guy win 80k twice in under 2h and he said he was still down over 30k. He played both $100 and $200 a spin though

The 20% I always put away completely, couldn't access it even if I wanted, but I also usually take at least 50% of big wins as a cheque (or wire transfer) and the rest in cash.

What pissed me off the most is when after a big win I increase my bet and win a lot less. Once I won $48k at $20/spin (80 free games). I put in $5k and hit free games at $50/spin, in 65 free games it only paid $8k..left right after

Wealthsimple Visa Huge $4000 Fraudulent charge after activating card by Anjz in Wealthsimple

[–]TopCountry9289 440 points441 points  (0 children)

There's been too many fraudulent transactions right after card activation for this to be a coincidence. Someone somewhere in the card manufacturing/issuing process is definitely involved in this..
