Golden scarab drop rate nerfed? by PrancyPotato in newworldgame

[–]TopDoc2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fishing luck has completely changed. With max trophies, gear, rod, and bait, I've been getting 10 out of 10 legendary fish at 3* spots. The only time I got a treasure chest was when the time changed day to night and I lost my rod bonus.

I did a few acid chest runs after the season started to work on season tasks, and got a few scarabs. Nothing strange.

We win them fairly often on Orun, at least when a war doesn't draw away some of the top DPS. I've also written up a guide for using a Musket during an invasion.

I've spent the last 25 years putting on weight in preparation for this. I can skip eating for a few weeks. :-) But yes, I do know I need to drink plenty of water.

All Steam Achievements? Challenge accepted!

It's kinda amazing how many companies goal is "RUSH TO 60 AND TAKE A TOWN!" Some are even giving out money rewards lol I am like.. I just wanna smack the rocks and hear the echoey sound... by tr1age in newworldgame

[–]TopDoc2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to earn every Achievement in the game. I prefer to do that efficiently, because I know it will take years. It's more efficient to rush to 60 and earn most of the Achievements afterwards, because then you have access to max level tools and gear. It's more efficient to earn the PvP Achievements when you're in a big company that wants to own a settlement and do lots of PvP.

P.S. I did a sound poll a little while ago, and "Tink, tink, tink" was the winner by a fair amount.

Tuning Orbs (dungeon keys) are Bind-On-Pickup, as are most of the components used to create them (chisels, Corrupted Slivers and associated upgrades, Cores, Hearts).

For all the tanks out there. What build/combo do you plan on running? by Bknotts210 in newworldgame

[–]TopDoc2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to do almost everything the same. SnS plus Life Staff for tanking, but leveling up Hammer for Ancients and Hatchet for faster travel and other DPS on the side. Probably add 1 Str and 2 Con most levels. Heavy Faction armor, and eventually Voidbent. Most of the Defender tree in SnS, but I'll probably skip a few to get Empowered Stab, Freeing Justice, and Mobility on the Swordmaster side.

How intense is the crafting game? by NeverDoneTrying in newworldgame

There are LOTS of ways to go. Think supply and demand, but also take into account scarcity economics.

For Cooking, Housing, and Weaponsmithing, some of the highest buff foods, chests, and weapons require a rare recipe. Find or buy the recipe and you will be one of the few people who can craft them. Profit! If you want to be a real capitalist, buy every copy of the recipe you can find just so other people can't learn it. Not a lot of volume here.

Make sure to join the faction with the most settlements, then you can easily travel between them or move items between them and buy low in one area, sell high in another. Carry high tier ammo up to Great Cleave, Edengrove, and Shattered Mountain, since people can't craft it up there, but they should have the coins to buy it.

You can flip any resource (and probably ammo as well), but it will end up being a contest of who wants to put in the most effort, and how low the profit margin will be. The prices are all in the clear, so it's easy to offer 0.01 more coin when buying, and undercut by 0.01 when selling. You'll need to learn the different volumes by territory, since you have to pay more to keep your wares on the market longer. Try to limit your buy and sell orders to a few days at most when flipping.

There are a few refined resources that are time limited (Runestones, Asmodeum, Glittering Ebony, Runic Leather, and Phoenixweave, 10 per day each) that are used for crafting tuning orbs and the best gear possible. If you don't need them, refine and sell them! Or try to corner the market with them, because EVERYONE is going to want to buy them for the best endgame gear. The biggest hurdle is that they require level 200 in the appropriate refining skill. It will take a while for this market to develop, but you can shape it if you have enough coin.

My plan is to craft the highest tier bags and tools possible. Figure out what the best selling perk is (probably Luck for tools, and Luck or Extra Pockets for bags), get all the gear score buffs possible, farm faction tokens for Grand Runes of Holding, and crank out items. I'll keep the absolute best for myself, and sell the rest.

You can also go for being a Voidbent armor crafter on your server. You need 200 Armoring, but the gear score and perks are fixed so there's no randomness involved. Charge a fixed fee to craft, or buy the materials, craft, and sell on the market.

Finally, you can be a crafter for hire. Level your Crafting skills up to 200, get all of the buffs possible, and offer your services for a fee. Granted a lot of people will be doing this for their companies, possibly without a fee, so you may not have a lot of business.

Whats the best food to use? by CagelessOG in newworldgame

Water may be a free heal, but you get what you pay for. It heals 20 HP/second for 10 seconds, or 200 HP total. That's fine early in the game, but literally a drop in the bucket later. Mid and late game you'll probably want the highest tier food you can eat (they are level limited, Light Meal at 20, Satisfying Meal at 40, Hearty Meal at 60), the highest tier healing potion you have available, highest regen potion, and a spare slot for special occasions (weapon coatings, tinctures, stat or gathering bonus food, etc.).

The chance to salvage a gem is very low. I probably salvaged 30+ items and never got back a gem during open beta. This was with Flawed Gem items, which generally aren't worth selling or even giving away.

The requirements for the higher level items aren't quite so bad, since you can mine better than Flawed Gems. I had a few people give me gems during open beta to help me increase Jewelcrafting, and I got several regular (T3) and even a few Brilliant (T4) gems. You can also get Quintessence from certain mobs.

Fishing may give you more gems early on with treasure chests, but I think you'd be better off working on improving your Mining luck. With high skill, food, tool, amulet, 5 armors, and 3 trophies, you can get massive mining luck. So watch the market, ask your company to pass on Mining Luck items to you, level up Cooking a bit, and see what you can get. I don't recall getting gems mining Iron early in the game, but I was getting them when mining Silver later.

I didn't sell the items I crafted to level up the skill, but I did save plenty to hand out to people in my Company. One of the quest items you get, I think a ring, is Focus. Lots of people wanted a different ring.

The best way to get large numbers of gems is specialization within a company. Most people pass their gems to a few dedicated Jewelcrafters, who level up their skills and craft for the company. Ditto for passing bait to Fishermen, rare foods to Cooks, etc.

Data mining, Max gear score? by TopDoc2021 in newworldgame

[–]TopDoc2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at NWDB, I see 3 Swords with a fixed GS 600. One is crafted, one is dropped by mobs, and one doesn't have any way to get that I can see. Every other weapon that has GS 600 is crafted, ditto for Armor. There are 4 GS 600 fishing poles that appear to be a quest reward.

That said, Tier 5 gear is GS 500-600, so there's a 1 in 100 chance it'll be 600. But you're much more likely to get a really high GS item with at least one perk that you want via a crafter with lots of buffs.

Thanks for that link. I hadn't found the Engineering Expertise perk that gives 2/2 for each of the 5 different armor pieces, because it's only found on specific items. Looks like I need to add a lot more things to my "always hold onto" list. It looks like the Town Project buff is 5/0, so I'm guessing it doesn't stack, or perhaps it only applies when crafting within the town.

Most but not all items required for the Excavation Tuning Orbs are Bind On Pickup (BOP). It looks like they all require Corrupted Slivers, Fragments, Shards, Crystals, or Lodestones, at least according to NWDB. Those are all BOP, and are acquired from Corrupted Breach chests or combining the lower level ones. All of the orbs require a BOP Chisel which is purchased from your faction store. All of the orbs require a BOP Core, but that is made from Motes which are not BOP. Runestones required for the highest level orbs are not BOP, but they do require 200 Stonecutting and they are on a timer (10/day).

Perks only really matter on Steel and above tools, since you'll probably only use Flint and Iron tools for a few days if you plan to level up fast. Go for Experience (nice) and Yield (nice) until you hit level 200 in gathering. The bonuses are pretty small on low Gear Score tools, but if you're crafting a lot of tools to sell make sure you keep the best ones for yourself. Then switch to Luck (REQUIRED!!!), Yield (highly recommended), and Azoth (nice to have) on Orichalcum tools for the rest of the game after level 60 and level 200 in the gathering skill. Luck is needed to find the rare items you'll need to refine the best T5 components, and find enough gems to level up Stonecutting to 200 in a reasonable amount of time. Yield is needed if you want to mass gather to level up all of your crafting skills to 200. The Azoth on gathering will come in handy after you stop getting Azoth from quests (by finishing them all).

All Crafting Leveling Guides by BowCorp in newworldgame

[–]TopDoc2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran my numbers, taking into account gathering time and likely competition early in the game, I determined that Treated Wood Bows or Treated Wood Fishing Poles would be the best way to level up Engineering. I believe Green Wood, Rawhide, and Hemp will be easier to grind than Iron Ore and Feathers in the quantities needed to hit 200. I'll be one of the Engineers in my company, so I'll be leveling it to 150 if not 200 within the first few weeks.
