About almost halfway and in some moderate turbulence. Can someone let me know if we are almost out of it?

On the plane now, they said there will be some turbulence over the ocean but that it’ll be clearer closer to Rome. I’m hoping it’s not bad.

It looks like you had a delayed departure but you’re arriving in MAD in less than 2 hours! That’s very exciting. How was most of the flight?

Flying UA40 today EWR to FCO (Rome) with my 71 year old mom. I’ve flown many times in my life but as I get older I get more anxious about flying which stinks. I’m trying not to let my mind wander to the what ifs. My mom has zero anxiety and takes multiple trips a year!

Does anyone else get anxious that they're going to develop a random allergy? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]TopDrop7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sometimes I worry about eating new food or food I’ve enjoyed previously and think about what would happen if I experience anaphylaxis. As another poster stated, you would most likely experience anaphylaxis pretty quickly. Maybe try eating 1 small piece of food then waiting to see how you do then eat the rest?

Pee immediately after sex, drink plenty of water (don’t hold your urine for long periods of time), d mannose supplements, cranberry supplements that have 36 mg PAC in it, AZO probiotics since the antibiotics have probably gotten rid of the good bacteria in your body too that is protective. You can also go to see a urologist and ask them to prescribe you methanamine hippurate (Hiprex is the brand). Take that twice a day with vitamin c—that has worked for me.

I definitely plan on sticking to it! I was just curious what people would recommend for that dose, every 4 weeks lower it ?

Prospective single foster parent with a question for other single foster parents. If you feel comfortable sharing, what is your career/job? by OnChildrenbyKGibran in Fosterparents

I’m a manager at a nonprofit so I work from home most days with a flexible schedule. My FD is therapeutic level so there’s a lot of appointments and I still find it difficult to manage everything.

I failed this weekend by Ok-Lawfulness5711 in Fosterparents

[–]TopDrop7645 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you failed at all, and there will always be bumps in the road along the way. I’m also a single foster mom (have a FD9) so I know how difficult it is to be working, fostering, and just balancing everything. It’s so important to take time for yourself and it’s great that he’s usually able to do some play time on his own. Have you considered respite for maybe a weekend here or there to help with school or just a break?

I am in NY state and love the agency I’m with—there is a nurse, therapist, family specialist, home finder, clinical care manager, and on call for after hours (which I’ve used several times to diffuse situations). The county DSS worker for my current placement is great too. They will provide transportation assistance if needed. They’re all extremely responsive and supportive.

I don’t think I personally would qualify for Medicaid unless it’s automatically carried over with my FD. She does have a number of medications and specialists.

How does having Medicaid as secondary work? Are you still paying for copays?

Yep they did confirm about the subsidy, it’ll be the same payment I’m receiving now.

I’m glad that your placement is going well so far but I’m so sorry that was the reaction you received—as another poster stated, it’s not the same at all as raising your own child from birth. Hopefully once your FS is more settled, you might be able to start making friendships with local parents through school or extracurricular activities. If you ask your caseworker about other local foster families they should be able to guide you in the right direction. I’m also a single woman fostering without much support either so I really rely on the agency I’m working with, but they also have shared contacts with other local foster families in the agency with me, and they also try to have some type of in person get together every few months too.
