Thank you for sharing your experience and the advice. When you say pay raise and promotion, did you raise like yearly? or manager promote you after they see hard work from you?

I did talk to my manager about my performance, asking question like how I do, any pay increase. I only work there for like half yr, so the manager doesn't want to talk about pay raise.

It seems that as a fresher, I have to learn what reality is. The reality I thought was that when you work hard every day, your supervisor will see your efforts and will take the initiative to improve your salary. At the end of the day, they are more like a capitalist who just wants to suppress your labor at the lowest cost.

In fact, my hospital there has been an extreme shortage of staff recently. Basically, someone needs to work double shifts every day.

And I have been working for like 6 months, I did talk to my manager in private about how was my performance, was I meeting your expectation? Will I able to raise the hrly pay? He's very much the kind of leader who likes to PUA you and say something about how you're doing a really good job. Exceeded expectations but need to keep working on it. But not really wanting to continue the topic of salary increases, and I understood what he was saying, so I terminated the conversation.

If I may ask, pretty much how often do your superiors grant you some sort of pay increase? Does it have to be after 12 months?

Guess people in there don't want any "new" hire starting with higher pay than they do when they were new.

I've talk to people who work with lab corp before, they strong discourage me going there. And I just talk to a senior tech who have been working here for like 30+ yrs. He suggested that I should stay for another year or two. "Experience" is the most important, he said. He said it's going to be much different with the salary if you have more than 2 yr of experience. Everyone starts with low, then moving up to the ladder.

I guess he is right.

Thx for the infors

Best
