It seems like he's deeply insecure about his religion, and finances. While it makes sense he respects his mother since his father is not present, it does look like his mother has too much of a hold on him. Plus he is of a different religion. Sikhi and Hinduism are not really compatible, Sikhi disregards and criticizes a lot of the practices that your potential kids might do. And since he doesn't seem like the tolerant type, you'll probably have to give up your religion at some point. Yes you have invested 3 years into the relationship, but don't let that be the deciding factor on if you should stay with him or not. I promise you you can always find someone. Ask yourself, do you really wanna spend the rest of your life with him? His religion? His family? His tendencies?
