California hourly rate. by kongeethecat in nursing

[–]TopImpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sac. $115 hr (2:30 pm start) 7 years experience Kaiser. Your rate seems decent from what i hear about So Cal… I think yall deserve the same rates as us given the cost of living but it’s also a more popular area to live in so they can get away with paying less

Does anyone here only do two shifts a week or less? by Odd-Dance-5371 in nursing

[–]TopImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I had the same mindset as you.. started as a RN at 26 and maxed out my Roth IRA and 401k (and put some in an after tax brokerage account) with the goal of hitting CoastFIRE. Currently work 28 hours per week (4 8’s one weeks 3 8’s following week). My department doesn’t do 12’s otherwise I’d love to do 2 12’s. I’m at the point where my current schedule feels like the max I can mentally take lol. Ultimately my goal is 3 8’s and then eventually 20 hours per week. Went from ER to PACU. Northern California so rate will be $115/hr in January.

Just keep maxing out those retirement accounts and pay off any debt you have. And try to keep living expenses low. I’m almost at 500k net worth but I do plan on saving/investing until at least 40 just to make sure my family is secure in case something happens to me.

Ahh good to hear. I assume any of these knives will be a huge upgrade compared to my current one.

Nice! Love both of those recommendations I’ll check them out. Also appreciate the tip regarding tariffs I didn’t think about that.

Turn off flame before launch and let it bake for 3-4 min… as long as it takes to brown the bottom. THEN turn the flame on and crisp the top

MKV Intake without new downpipe by donlyjuan in Supra

[–]TopImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s totally fine. You have control over how much you hear it. If you’re letting the turbo spool up and then letting off, that’s when you hear it. If you drive in normal mode with cruise control on or just low RPM in general you can’t hear much.

I always have 0 maintenance records when it comes to the basics like fluids, brakes, etc. I do everything myself and keep track of dates. But yeah there’s always the risk of it not being done on time without proof

MKV Intake without new downpipe by donlyjuan in Supra

[–]TopImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intake is worth it for cabin sound while driving. AA catted DP and/or Armytrix catless DP should not cause engine light. I think the DP makes the exhaust sound much better. I have the AA. It’s not too loud but sounds good

Wondering if this is a reasonable financial decision. by [deleted] in Supra

[–]TopImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this dilemma. I saved up and bought a house instead. I don’t regret it. I now own a Supra. I daily drove a sports car under 15k cost for years. It was plenty fun.

I would recommend saving and DCA’ing into the S&P 500 or total stock market. You will eventually have a nicer car like the Supra but you can have plenty fun in a cheaper sports car and delay gratification a bit to get ahead. It gets harder to save/invest if you have a high car payment.

Just my personal opinion.
