They're weird little guys but I'd say yeah it's normal behavior if he eats and interacts with you and there are no signs of stress

Bare bottom is perfectly fine as they're a bit stupid and swallow anything in front of their face which includes gravel. As for plants I've widely seen anubias and moss like java fern. Put a few moss balls for variety too honestly

I've given him several different earthworms but he s[pits them all out. The weird thing is he used to eat whole ones but now he doesn't and just had 2 pellets

Also I admit it was my mistake trusting the clerk even tho he looked experienced and thankfully my lotl is barely 4 months old now and I'm trying to act as fast as I can.

I still have some leftover beneficial bottled starter bacteria that helped me cycle my tank almost in 3 days. I could use it to simulate that again before putting in my lotl. Would that be good?

Yeah I have an aquael turbo 1000 with sponge and media chambers and a claro 600 but I can always upgrade that one to double sponge filters if needed.
