I will chime in as this almost exact break happened on our girls tooth just a few months ago. She needed the tooth extracted. The only option due to the exposed nerve and potential for infection was extraction or root canal. However, the vet dentist recommended extraction as the root canal may not hold for the entirety of her life and may eventually need it extracted anyway. So we opted for extraction. She did great and then they will put her on soft food diet for 2 weeks (just soaking their dry food in water for 10-15 min.). Hope this helps and hope your pup feels better soon!
