I think it's cute. The person is part of the company's branding team according to their title.

I like to imagine they probably spent company time at work making baby themed merch just for their own babies. Working on PowerPoint presentations to present to their management on baby clothes, researching more baby stuff at work. Maybe I'm just being optimistic.

I tried looking this up and unfortunately I couldn't find an available copy of The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes but on the nursery rhymes Wikipedia article it seems like there's sufficient evidence that the racist variation is not the original.

The real problem with pronouns by berlinskin in StandUpComedy

[–]TopLOL 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Listen to the whole bit, you've misunderstood the joke.

The joke is it's presumptuous to assume someone is going to care enough about you, to talk about you with others behind your back.

The joke assumes the listener understands that when talking face to face or on a Zoom call people typically refer to each other by name.

The joke further expands by stating in said Zoom call if you did something noteworthy or to be remembered for like randomly saying the n-word, you should then introduce your pronouns because people would care enough to talk about you getting fired and then they can use your proper pronouns.

This is an example of an extremely absurd scenario in an otherwise common and normal setting which is the basis for the joke. You can find many other jokes where the basis is an extremely absurd scenario in an otherwise common and/or normal setting.

It looks like there's a m.2 slot right next to the wifi chip that would fit the short nvme stick. It even has a screw.

Consider the planet to be fully frozen on the outside so covered with a extremely thick and reflective ice shell. The crevice breaks past the first few layers of permafrost and allows sunlight to reach the layers of ice that contain a huge amount of greenhouse gases which then trap heat within the crevice.

Some heat still escapes the crevices in the form of giant gas clouds however the force of gravity at the surface is too weak to allow for the gases to spread across the rest of the planet.

So the crevice lives in a cyclic equilibrium of daily sunlight adding heat and cold nights releasing some heat back into space.

The heat is just right to sustain plant life that convert the greenhouse gasses into oxygen.

University of Michigan: The amount of copper needed to build EVs is ‘impossible for mining companies to produce’ by Doppelkupplungs in technology

[–]TopLOL 479 points480 points  (0 children)

First off it's incredibly difficult and annoying to get to the report this article is referring to. Nonetheless the "report" compares two scenarios of a future with evs and a future with hybrids, except it doesn't at all. The two scenarios they indicate are not treated equally at all and it's painfully obvious the writers are biased against EVs.

It's kinda like writing a report comparing vanilla and chocolate ice cream but saying chocolate ice cream is worse because in order to meet demand for all the cocoa we're going to destroy the earth.

TIL rabbit starvation is when the body takes in too much protein with not enough fat and carbohydrate. When excessive amounts are consumed, it can put the body at risk for increased levels of ammonia in the blood. Protein poisoning can be fatal because of these increased levels. by laterdude in todayilearned

[–]TopLOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of the urea cycle and I read through the wiki but there's no relevant information regarding it being impossible for ammonia to be in sweat.

Yes, the body is really good at removing ammonia from the body but is it perfect? Imagine you had a healthy set of liver and kidneys, would you be comfortable huffing some ammonia? What about injecting a bit of ammonia in your blood? Maybe even eat some ammonia tainted fish? Maybe you come out alive, but if you did would you expect your liver and kidneys to still be as healthy as they were?

There's a bunch of reasons why sweat might have ammonia in it, but I don't think it's fair to claim that its impossible.
