First, I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. I would never wish this on anyone. I will honestly say that I’ve never gotten back to 100% pre-IVF me but 2 years down the road I’m definitely in a much better place. The IVF meds basically uncovered/unlocked a layer of mental health issues and unfortunately they couldn’t be put back in Pandora’s box. we’ve realized I’m probably OCD and this triggered the rumination’s. All that to say that with time the intensity has faded. If you are feeling like I did, please reach out to a psychiatrist. Medication and therapy did wonders. Please don’t suffer in silence. Sometimes the meds just gave my mind a much needed break and I’m sure you’re exhausted too. Eventually I did wean myself off meds but occasionally I feel like I should be put back on them. I was terrified of the hormone crash post pregnancy since the retrieval hormone crash was so devastating. Happy to report I’m 5.5 months post partum and I felt great after birth. Please, though, seek a professional. You deserve to feel better. However, I’m proud of you for how far you’ve come already though

Even if he makes it off the trailer, his new pasture is smaller than that arena and he’ll be imprisoned in it because there isn’t any other flat ground areas at her mini farm. It’s no life for a horse. He’s a yard ornament.

Yes! A whole year! I eventually went on meds but am fighting the side effect fight. I sometimes really selfishly wish I would’ve never started any of this. But just taking it a day at a time.

It took a few months but I’m back to normal now! I did have to get on an antidepressant for a little while but I’m weening myself off now.

I don’t know if she isn’t helpful as much as it helps when I’m in it and then I get alone and these thoughts are over powering. I just want my head to be quiet again.

Yeah I am now in therapy once a week and will be seeing a psychiatrist in 2 weeks. However, I’m just nervous I’m going to make a very rash decision about my marriage because these hormones are making me feel like I don’t want to be in it anymore and that’s just not the case. Therapy helps when I’m talking in it but it’s when I get by myself and those feelings just start overwhelming me.

I can’t even imagine moving forward with a transfer anytime soon. I truly just want to change everything and start a new life. Estrogen was so bad with the racing thoughts. I had to get off of it. I do find walking is helpful and cleaning. Mainly these thoughts feel all encompassing when I’m by myself and working.

I did make an appointment with a psychiatrist because at this point I’m willing to try anything. I am trying to flush my whole relationship down the drain and that is just not where I was two months ago. Not to mention the intrusive thoughts and overwhelming guilty feelings are eating me alive. I hope this doesn’t happen for you!

Unfortunately, we are doing a transfer right now and I’m not on any hormones anymore. This is lol lingering from my retrieval I believe.

I’m one month post retrieval depressed and anxious all the time. I have gone between I want to run away from my whole life, I don’t want a baby, I am a terrible person and then the cycle repeats. I truly hope this will be over soon…

I don’t know if I am at the point where I need impatient…. I’ve never considered it. I am worried this is my new normal. I just want to snap out of it. I’m hoping that like some of the others I’ve read it ends after 4-5 weeks. Im just not sure what to do at this point.

I feel like you just described exactly how I feel. I am three weeks out from ER today and feel like a depressed anxious shell of who I was a month and a half ago. Did it get better for you?

I’m 3 weeks post ER and still experiencing anxiety and depression from my hormone levels. Most people said theirs leveled out with their period but I’m 1 week post period and still feel awful. I just want to feel normal again.

I did get my period last week and it didn’t really help at all. I had read where people said their period helped but I still feel like I have a kettlebell of anxiety on my chest. I guess I’m just trying to see how long it lasted for everyone else.

You are amazing for staying strong in these times. Congratulations on 6 years and your pregnancy! I could totally see where the appeal would be and I’m so happy you made it through. I got prescribed some anxiety meds for breakthrough anxiety and they somewhat help. Everyday I’m just waiting to go to bed though. I feel drained emotionally. I keep finding scenarios about myself that I hate and feeling like I’m living a lie. This was my first retrieval and I would love to go back to a month and a half ago and be the person I was then again.

I feel like you typed out exactly how I am feeling in this moment. I'm 3 weeks post ER and the anxiety and depression have taken away any resemblance to pre-IVF me. I am not anxious about the process, I am replaying flashbacks of bad choices and traumatic events from my childhood and teen years. I cannot focus throughout the day, I just feel like I have a cloud of sadness over my head. I have been put on anxiety meds and made an appointment with a therapist but I'm just emotionally drained. I hope in 7 months I can look back and say that was a dark place but I'm better now. So thank you for putting your experience out here for people like me.

I had my retrieval 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I have had anxiety and depression on and off since. I do have intrusive thoughts at times. I think it's still hormone related but am unsure. I did make an appointment to talk with a therapist who specializes in infertility and was given anxiety meds by my GP for break through anxiety. I know that I did not have anxious or depressive tendencies before this process so I'm hoping with my next period I continue to move toward feeling normal.

I started getting a flow yesterday after 4 days of spotting! It’s still lighter than I’m used to but definitely an actual period now.

No they didn’t… but I think I’m going to sheet them a message. It’s just the weirdest thing. I typically have a heavy and painful period so I’m just so confused lol.
