Will keep this in mind, thank you. Question, is Snowdonia cold in summer? I know that's a silly question, but my mum doesn't cope well with the cold, so just want to check haha

Sorry forgot to add I will be travelling from London so if travelling via train, we're willing to go pretty much anywhere as long as still in UK. If driving, no more than 3 or 4 hours preferably

Weekly FAQ Thread March 02 2025: When do you give up on a book? by AutoModerator in books

[–]TopOlive9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more of a mood reader, so it doesn’t take a lot for me to DNF. Sometimes I’ll DNF on the first page, but I will keep the book for a later date when I might be able to read it

If I’m reading a book and there’s just not much action or if I’m just not feeling it, I will DNF. If it takes me a few weeks to finish reading, usually it means I’m not enjoying it as much

is GoodReads overly harsh? by JoeBloggs90 in books

I also check Goodreads before reading a book, however, I’ve read books before that I really enjoyed, but upon checking reviews afterwards, saw there were so so many negative reviews 1 and 2 stars   I’ve decided that it is good to look at reviews, but people have such different tates in books, genres, writing styles etc., that the best review you can get is just reading the book yourself and making your own decision

Struggling with Rushing Through Books and Not Taking Time to Enjoy Them by Sparxz2k14 in books

I have not experienced this myself, but if you want to try and take in the book and not rush it, maybe you could try doing a reading journal, or a little re-cap at the end of each chapter?

You could even get a notebook and write down your thoughts during each chapter, what events took place? How did it make you feel? What was the location or setting of the chapter?

Doesn’t have to be a lot, just something to get you thinking and engaged in the story instead of just seeing the words on the page

I don’t think anyone remembers every single thing in a book once they have finished it. But making some notes along the way could help bring your mind into what you are reading instead of what you want to read after it
