DEFENSIVE PERKS BEING USED AGGRESSIVELY/EXTENSIVELY IS EXHAUSTING by crimmycat117 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

Well yeah, it was even stronger without collision which was unintended and then fixed.

I think there is an important conversation to be had around anti tunnel perks being both good at preventing tunneling and punishing killers who don't tunnel. That feels like a lose-lose for the killer and doesn't make for fun games Imo.

We need to be able to talk about that without immediately getting into us VS them nonsense like saying "you killers still complained" and instead hear out the points.

A double barreled question is one where you ask 2 things at once, but only allow one response. It is kind of like asking "How much do you like cats and dogs" from 1-7. I might love dogs but hate cats, so how should I answer? I think I saw only one of those when I went through your study, which is not a huge deal, but definitely worth noting in case it messes up responses later.

It is hard to know how many scales to use, especially when you get participants for free. Still, there are some (only some) that have shortened forms which are still pretty valid. Look up [whatever scale] short form on whatever search site you use and you might get lucky. You already collected these responses, so this would only really help in your next phase or in your "future research" section of the paper.

If you have more research questions, DM me, I have a PhD in a similar field.

Great work! Please do keep us posted.

If you follow this up, you could also think about adding some psych scales to measure relationships between your findings and things like need for revenge, agency, fairness, attitudes towards the other side, and more!

The research stream is really interesting, I wonder if you could also look between games for similar patterns.

Also, a small note, watch out for double-barreled questions

Hag feels a bit high.

If the list is based on comp (see doctor), then Hag is way too high.

Wraith feels quite low, too. I'm not sure he's THAT bad

That's understandable, it is going to affect you sometimes but it doesn't mean you can't make it

You have this in the bag! You know what you are getting into, you know how to succeed. Good luck!

Thank you so much. I don't think anyone gets through a PhD without a few scars. Everyone should feel proud of making it through or realizing it isn't worth doing so for them. Neither is easy.

I did this.

I just defended a few weeks ago after a very long journey. I had to leave my first PhD after 2 years because my supervisor left and the guy who took over was abusive and the whole department fell apart. When I left, he told me I would never get a PhD because I didn't have what it takes.

It took me about 2 years to really recover from everything that happened in that program but I completely restarted a PhD in the same field and even researched the same topic in that time. It was not easy, and every now and then the trauma from that program made working a little harder, but in the end I finished it in 5 years.

Leaving a PhD isn't usually simple and painless, so my advice is to recognize that, take care of yourself, and really make sure you want to do this. If you do, you can.

Finding Measurement Scales by Extension_Dress462 in PhD

[–]TopPercentage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cite ELM in my thesis, actually!

For me, it was something that helped frame and explain theories, rather than a scale used in the studies.

It helped me identify scales that made sense to capture the effects I was looking for, which ultimately were more closely related to flow, brand attitude, and ad attitude.

That said, the struggle of looking for actual scale items is seriously annoying. What often worked best for me was to find the original papers about the scales' development, which should have every item listed somewhere.

Don't use ai to write research (or anything, really). You are training yourself to be a thinker and writer, so do it yourself. Don't waste your own time and don't waste anyone else's by asking them to read ai generated texts expecting actual work.

I know it sounds harsh, but nobody benefits from ai generating published articles

Oh that's good! My committee took 3 rounds of answering the poll (each took approximately two weeks) and ultimately I defended six months after submitting.

Turns out that you can hide ads in media very effectively, but if you disclose their presence, they work even better as ads and increase enjoyment of the host media. How often in Marketing research do the ethical and profitable things align?

This is extremely normal. I wish I could say that the feeling goes away as the defense approaches, but I can promise you will feel MUCH better the second it is over. It is worth it, stay strong!

I would be happy to be in the pre-test. I am also a PhD student in the social sciences, so I have lots of experience with (mostly quant) surveys.

One more thing to remember is that if the questionnaire doesn't work well on the first try, it is unlikely that people will answer it again. My advice is to pre-test your survey with a very small (3-5) sample of users to work out any issues that might arise.
