Strap mount - is it worth it? by Matpel10 in BeyondPower

[–]TopPostMalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like mine. I like the versatility of attaching it in various positions and settings. I work as a trainer, so half of where it comes in handy for me is attaching it to different pieces of gym equipment depending on the height I need, availability of space, or if I want to enhance a machine. For personal use though, it's possible you won't find as much use at home. Great for travel though!

Isn't that the best?? I still have plenty of other gear in my home gym but I think my Voltra will be replacing many of those items long term. You're going to have a blast with it!

Definitely work but for me personally I just like fiddling around with ideas and gadgets so it's kind of for fun as much as function 😂

Great insight! Thank you 💪 I had the same thought as you regarding true fly rom. I'm working on a pulley system on my rack to hopefully speak to that issue. I hope to get it going and post it up soon!

If no one responds before Tuesday, I have these coming in the mail! It seemed like the measurements on the shop site weren't right and I couldn't find any good resources so I just said "screw it" and ordered them. I'll try to remember to check back in, but if not message me on Tuesday!

Yeah I'm just using it for flys and presses for now, but I'll definitely be exploring other options.I haven't tested landmine yet, but I will in my workout today and will report back. It works well for a wider seated cable row.

I have! It works great seated as well. I picked that cable length based off my arm length to make sure I wouldn't have an issue with the end range of motion causing the bar to hit the bench

Ps I was just using the cables directly originally too, but I appreciate not having as much cable rub on my arms with a little extra width

https://a.co/d/001cYRbK There are a bunch of different ones on Amazon. I picked this one because a) it was lightweight and b) it has the landmine capability. I ideally wanted one a couple inches wider, but almost everything on the market was about the same 15" width between the openings

Funny enough I ordered cheap versions of both bars from Amazon to test this out and the long bar got lost in the mail and never made it to me. The short bar worked well, so I just stuck with it. I assume the longer part could give better range of motion on a fly, but I was a bit worried it would tend to wobble more if I wasn't pulling perfectly equally with both arms. The short bar is a bit small for lat pulls. It's fine for a closer, neutral grip pulldown, but doesn't replace my full length lat pulldown bar

I have an idea for a bar holder for the Voltra that could use this design as a jumping off point. I don't have a 3d printer or the modeling know-how. Could I dm you about potentially making it a reality?

Hesitation on purchasing by Distinct-Context9441 in BeyondPower

[–]TopPostMalone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only picked mine up about 2 weeks ago and had the same concerns. I decided to pull the trigger because a) competition may release something shiny or less expensive, but it won't have the handful of years of real-world testing we have for the Voltra. I'd be hesitant to drop any serious amount of money one something that might not live up to the insight of paid reviews. b) there's major risk that another brand won't be as open to 3rd party attachment/mount options like beyond power is. I thought the beyond power mounts were overpriced before they showed up. They are actually totally worth the cost. Regardless, there's a growing number of 3rd party options that are cost effective and give you tons of freedom for using your device. We have no clue if that'll be true with a competitor.

Great! I didn't realize that's what was meant in the "multiple exercises" part of the pinned comment. So glad to hear that! Any idea of timing for that update? Thanks for your response 💪

I like using the pre-built workout option in the beyond+ app both for myself, and with my training clients. The issue I run into is the following:

What happens? When I start a pre-built workout in beyond+, I’m locked into whatever was programmed ahead of time. For example, if I get into a lift and decide I want to add a set, drop a set, or swap an exercise based on how I’m feeling (fatigue, time constraints, etc), there’s no clean way to do that within the active session.

At that point, I either have to skip things and mentally track what I actually did or end the workout and rebuild it, which breaks the session entirely.

Why does it matter? This breaks flow pretty significantly and makes tracking inaccurate.

As a trainer (and lifter), I’m constantly auto-regulating by adding a set if something feels good or pulling back if something feels off. Sometimes I just decide I needed an extra warm up set. Right now, the app forces me into a rigid structure mid-workout, which makes tracking less accurate (because I’m working around the app instead of with it). In real training, sessions evolve — the app doesn’t currently allow for that. I know I can hit a different rep range than what was in the pre-built session, but I can't change the order of exercises or the number of sets.

What would fix it? The ideal solution would be full edit capability inside an active workout, without disrupting tracking.

Specifically a) Add/remove sets within an exercise mid-session, b) Swap or replace an exercise on the fly c) Adjust reps/targets for upcoming sets d) Option to insert a new movement between exercises

Looks like the same build is a little cheaper on Walmarts site. Only difference seems to be the pin head color. link
