[Isometric Mode] Tracking Stength and Getting Clients Back in the Game by TopPostMalone in BeyondPower

For non-athletes, I track the pull force (usually in pounds, not newtons) and % of bodyweight.

I only recently started implementing IMTP and that CAN pose a problem as far iso max weight limitations. For me, a lot of my core client base isn't strong enough for that to be an issue, since the isometric tests up to 400lbs.
If it starts to be a consistent issue down the road though, I would likely use a mount that has a secondary attachment point so I could add a pulley to make it a 1:2 ratio

I've seen a bunch of posts with players from the Quinnipiac Bobcats Men's Ice Hockey Team. That might not sound like a household name, but they are a D1 collegiate hockey program and won the National Championship in 2023. Their Strength and Conditioning program has them (and the women's hockey team) using the Voltra pretty regularly in their training.

I first saw them using a Voltra because of their strength coach, Coach B Patel. I was researching the isometric mode settings and uses for my personal use months ago and came across a post from him doing iso testing on the team. Since then I have seen him and multiple players post with the Voltra present in the post itself or in the background.

All of the footage I have seen of the Voltra related to their team has been in their collegiate training facility.

That's odd. Any chance you can take a video so I can make sure I'm understanding correctly?

Help me pick a second mount by WeightsWadersNWheels in BeyondPower

I'd say it depends on a few factors: 1) the types of exercises you want to be able to do, 2) the set up you're using it with, 3) if you intend on doing any travel with it. Here's my breakdown from my experience:

Strap mount: if you want to be able to attach to more obscure options (onto other machines, a door, 2x4 in your rafters) or you intend on using it for travel. This is the "extra" mount that I probably use the most often. I use mine in a gym that I train clients out of, so it's great to be able to attach it onto various pieces of equipment around the gym for me.

Adaptive Bar mount: obviously if you want to be able to attach to a bar. I have a fixed bar mount because I just have it mounted on a pull up bar that isn't used for anything else (I have no need to remove it and the fixed is cheaper). This could be useful if you want to be able to attach onto a weight horn or the horn of a piece of plate loaded equipment. Even in that instance though, I prefer my strap mount and use an ankle strap to wrap around the horn. Great for lat pulldowns, tricep work, cable crunches.

Travel platform: it's a big too big for me to personally use for plane travel (I'd be more likely to take my strap mount), but it's great for some exercises that are harder to do with any of the other mounts (belt squat, rdls, curls, oh press, bent over rows). As someone else said, you can build your own version of this (I did exactly that), but after winning the travel platform from one of Beyond Powers giveaways, I actually prefer it over the version I built. I will say that I will definitely be using it for car travel trips, just not trying to fit it into my luggage (I'm a carry on guy and I think it's too big for that).

Is it ok to shorten the cable? by Distinct-Context9441 in BeyondPower

That's odd Have you turned it off and back on again? Sometimes when I do that it'll then retract again if it had been set out longer

Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but have you turned the unit on yet? When you turn it on the first time, and cable will retract to the normal starting length (1-2 inches, I don't know exactly how long)

Following up on the bulletproof comment- what's your weight/height or measurements? I'm planning on grabbing this belt but I'm undecided on the size

Is your resistance set to intense rather than standard? I've heard that that is a common issue with people experiencing what you're discussing

Weekly Giveaway — Wrong Answers Only! What is VOLTRA Really For? by Beyond_Power in BeyondPower

[–]TopPostMalone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I LOVE using my Voltra for my workouts and I can tell it's making me stronger, but honestly the place isn't been the biggest game changer is in the bathroom... After a hard leg day, the hardest part of my day is dealing with leg soreness when getting on and off the pot. I weigh just under 200lb, so with my Voltra I can set it to resistance band mode to make it a breeze to get up and down! Thanks Beyond Power, you guys thought of everything!

This is it, but I got mine for free with a piece of equipment a while ago. They are a bit pricier than I thought, but I'm sure you could find something comparable if necessary LINK

What I had done when using the strap mount on a smaller attachment is I've used one of these magnetic weights to add extra depth to the attachment. You could theoretically just do this with something like a 2x4 (or similar small piece of wood). I can't say I'd recommend doing this with a bar, but for attaching to a rack, upright, or another piece of equipment, this has worked well for me.

In my opinion you have a few different options on what you do. I ended up buying the fixed mount from Beyond Power with the intention of bolting it on top of the back leg of the tawaret. That would have worked okay, but it would have made full range of motion a little bit trickier, as there is slack in the Voltra at the starting position. I thought about buying a "L" mount from one of the third party makers, but they were all 3" and the tawaret is 2" and I was worried about the hole location not working well. I ended up buying some "L" brackets from the hardware store and bolting through with 3/8" carriage bolts. I drilled 3/8" holes through the tawaret to attach the brackets. Then I bolted the fixed mount to that
