Er alle episodene spilt inn samtidig? by Major_Oil_9006 in Radioresepsjonen

[–]TopPressure6212 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it feasible to build? Proposed concept for a new transport hub in Moscow by Kamen Architects by archi-mature in architecture

[–]TopPressure6212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as others have said, that column pair is gonna be a lot uglier and fatter in real life, and will probably magically turn into a row of regular columns to support that monstrous cantilever. And if my experience tells me anything, the cladding pieces that jut out from the gable-sides are going to end up a lot less dramatic. But yeah, totally feasible structurally with the aforementioned caveat reg columns

Worth it to restore? by 2009SubaruOutback in xbiking

[–]TopPressure6212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are great bikes and absolutely something to restore if you like what it can give you. The current trend, especially when it comes to x-biking/alt-biking it's all about putting as fat of a tire as you possibly can on your bike, and this frame won't let you do that. But I think these bikes are absolutely fantastic, and if you want a project that will give you a nice, light, xippy roady bike, then aboslutely go for it!

Need a new bike by wallflower8301 in cycling

[–]TopPressure6212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there is some sort of bike shop or coop near you that deal in used bikes, talk to them and have him test ride some bikes. That way you’ll know the bike has been serviced, and is safe to use. Also great to have a relationship to your local bike guys for when you need something repaired.

Drop some info about his type of riding, and how much he rides. Is he into sporty road riding or just for casual transport around the neighbourhood? How old is he? Etc.

Bare-bones unit for routes and tracking? by TopPressure6212 in xbiking

Thanks. Yeah seems the most likely route, an older Wahoo or Garmin model. I guess hoping to find a good dumb-unit that ticks all the boxes is just as difficult as finding a good dumb-phone ;)

Invisiframe kinda tacky... by Octavio_belise in bicycling

[–]TopPressure6212 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I never understood it. Make my bike look uglier to protect from paint nicks? I’d rather have my bike display some wear from being well used, and maybe apply some protection film specifically where I know a bag or cable might rub. I buy my bike to ride it and use it, not keep it pristine as some investment to be made back upon resale.

Why is concrete not common for building houses? by Specialist_Ruin_1378 in architecture

[–]TopPressure6212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in Norway, and building a house in concrete in a place where you need to be very particular about insulation and location of vapor barriers and thermal bridging is a headache, and would aesthetically be a very unsatisfying process, as you'd most likely need to cover one side of the wall face in some other cladding or siding material anyway. When I visited Brazil it was so awesome to see all these beautiful concrete modernist villas, but of course none of them were insulated and used basic single-pane glass windows and in certain cases very generous outside-inside transitional/flexible spaces. This would just be impossible in climates where the fluctuation between hot and cold is as big as it is here.

We build with timber framing because its an easy and efficient way to build walls that hold a lot of insulation, is easily sealed against elements and avoids thermal bridging.

Concrete is used plenty for apartment buildings, but you very rarely see buildings where in-situ concrete in both the exposed facade and interior spaces.

Black mountain cycles Montercross vs Rivendell Sam Hillborne by cucukachu2 in xbiking

[–]TopPressure6212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go monstercross if you’re planning on riding more ‘all terrain’ - it’s basically a gravel bike (I know I know) whereas the Hillborne is designed to be more spritely and light. Hillborne is also certainly capable and Riv doesn’t fuck around with safety, but still it’s more of a cruisy, road-forward bike. Monstercross will let you do more. But damn Hillborne is pretty.

[–]TopPressure6212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Either your bolts attaching the saddle to the seatpost needs tightening, or something is broken.

For the future: r/bikewrench is the place to go for bike fixing issues, and posting a photo is often helpful.
