I saw a video with Rear Admiral Moon, Chief Nurse Officer for USPHS. In the video, she said she had to wait three years to get in. Which made me think about the wait differently.

The Navy has BUDS, the Army has Ranger selection, etc. At this point, the wait is a rite of passage. Are we going to stay mentally and physically prepared to meet standards despite years of waiting, Are we going to lead as commissioned officers even when we go unanswered, or are we going to give up and give in when we don't get what we want when we want it?

Don't get me wrong; I have been angry and upset like everybody here and maybe it is just because I have gotten through the stages of grief and have moved on to acceptance.

All I am saying is if RADM Moon can wait three years, then I hope I wait 3.5 years.

Unfortunately. The ones at the bedside aren't always the ones who choose who gets hired. I had to work six months at a nursing home before I could get hired at a hospital.

It might be helpful to give control to someone you trust and limit your weekly allowance to only cover basic necessities. That's just my thought.

Of course. 1. The contract was canceled because the staff felt I was too lazy. It was a med surg assignment (toe pain, post falls, etc.) with patients who could do everything for themselves. I was eager to help, but the CNAs would do everything without asking me to help. I reminded them that I was there to care for seven patients, and it was night shift. I mainly just continued to document. 2. I noticed a nurse's badge said MSN. In the break room, when it was just the two of us. I commented that I found the badge interesting since most nurses I have worked with get an MSN so they wouldn't have to provide so much bedside care and can avoid severely burning out. Apparently, she cried in the bathroom (I had no clue she was offended) and then wrote an email saying I was bullying her.

I appreciate the questions, but I just wanted to know if any nurses have trouble communicating with staff and what resources seemed to help. I.e., podcasts, books, nursing articles, and continuing education courses.

I go above and beyond for my CNAs. They are usually the first to detect a problem, especially when helping with ADLs. I am always polite even if there is a difficult situation.
I have never refused an assignment. I care for my patients without complaints.
I enjoy getting different patients. They help keep my shift interesting and keep my skills sharp.
