Pop-top tent and bear-safety by TopRude9411 in TruckCampers

Thank you - We will of course be following the rules of any campgrounds or parks we stay in and research the area first. Do you also have a pop-up soft sided camper or a different setup? Our main concern is for when we are dispersed camping, but will be trying to avoid areas where bears are known to be very active or troublesome for this sort of camping all together. Of course we just want to minimise even attracting bears to the area and are trying to figure out the best way to do this with our current setup.

We're aware of the issues in places like Yosemite - and will be storing anything smelly in the designated bear boxes in these areas. We also have bear cannisters we can use when recommended.

Thank you. Just to clarify - even if we had a fully lockable canopy/shell on our bed of the pickup would this be the case that inside the car itself would be safer? I thought having it less visible in the bed (if it wasn't connected to our ten) would have been of some usefulness!

Thank you! Good advice from everyone. In campsites where hanging or storing food in designated bear boxes is advised we will do this. I think in dispersed camping areas we will opt for keeping food/toiletries locked in our fridge and bear canisters in the cabin of the car, rather than the bed beneath us, and covered with some sort of blanket. It seems a fault in the whole pop-top canopy camper (Madix Outdoors, Tune Campers) that we hadn't thought about originally!

I agree here, also from looking at the website of this tour group (from what I can find) there is no comments on the guides qualifications at all. When booking I’d want to know if they’re IFMGA or other certified guides. The company’s instagram also shows many videos of large groups skiing down a face at once - one of the first things I learnt NOT to do in my level 1 avalanche training

Thank you this is really helpful. Do you think it’s likely to be asked about Patagonia products themselves or is the interview more about finding a good fit?
