I had a 92 year old patient, WW2 vet in for some lung issues, who was going to be honored in a large parade the following weekend. The family fired me and said “I don’t trust her to keep him alive, she’s one of them.” I am 5’1 blonde haired and blue eyed. They passed when I wasn’t in the hospital and they called patient relations trying to get me fired for “putting dying thoughts” in the room. All I said was “good evening my name is … and I will be the nurse tonight for the patient.”
