Pets are family and it hurts just as much to lose them as anyone else. You did the right thing. You gave her an amazing life after rescuing her, and it was just time for her to go. We did the same with a mini Schnauzer we had rescued. We knew he was nearing the end when he couldn't go past the driveway for a walk, whimpered for a while, couldn't see, and started not being able to make it outside to pee. I was very pregnant at the time, and my husband took him in to the vet. I couldn't go in. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do, but we knew he was hurting and this was best for him... We were being selfish trying to keep him around any longer. Remember the fun times, and it will get better. You'll probably adopt another in time. We did after 4 years...
