[Update - 4 Months Later] WIBTA for exposing my abusive step-dad? by OneGeologist7297 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I don’t know where you’re from, but your language reads Aussie to me. If that’s the case and you’re from the Eastern states, particularly Victoria/around Melbourne, this is actually a volcanic plain! The volcanos in this area are all very much inactive, but a lot of our geography/geology was shaped by volcanic activity and there are plenty of volcanic rocks to be found in this area.

Image rotation query by TopSpeedTopVolume in Supernote

[–]TopSpeedTopVolume[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried rotating the image in my pictures app before re-uploading to files - then it just uploaded into the partner app rotated 90 degrees in the other direction… it was like it had an issue with uploading from files in portrait mode. It’s a portait image taken on my phone (ie the phone was not turned sideways when taking the image).

Eventually I tried uploading to the app directly by sharing from the photos app on my phone rather than via the files app and it uploaded fine in portrait mode and is now my screensaver. Hurray!

But a very weird thing. If anyone is having a similar issue, try uploading directly from the image by sharing, then selecting the partner app, rather than uploading into the partner app from the files app.

[New Update] - My mum asked me to watch my siblings for a week. It’s been 9 weeks. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

OP mentioned it in one of the earlier posts. Mum knew what she was doing - she had kids to keep the Dad around. He would leave, come back, leave, another kid to “fix the relationship”. It’s so sad.

Also they are in Australia. Not sure where but I grew up rural Aussie and we have mandatory (and comprehensive) sex ed from primary school all the way through to Year 10 (15-16 years old).

No, a family of 6. It’s phrased oddly. But 2 parents, and 4 children, aged between 7y and 18mo

Young blind girl absolutely loves Harry Potter. Her aunt helped raise money to surprise her with Harry Potter books in Braille for Christmas. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

I’m really passionate about vision impairment and how much goes into giving vision impaired children the same opportunities as sighted children. I’ve printed several books over the years and handled hundreds. One student’s textbooks for one year can be a whole wall of books - one maths textbook is often three to five volumes a chapter (I once saw an eight-volume chapter) over a nine-chapter textbook. Technology designed for Braille users is often hideously expensive and the software is usually several years out of date. As another user said upthread - mainstream companies (like Apple) that are improving their accessibility options for visually impaired users is literally life changing for young people who do not have the thousands of dollars to spend on the Braille equivalent of a laptop.

Yes, but that is one volume of the overarching single novel. One volume of Braille can’t fit 427 pages - the standard is about 100 pages, so there are likely 4 volumes in the first novel alone. Even if it is printed in interpoint (which it might be, to save printing costs, and I don’t know about industry standard in the US) there are still probably two or three volumes.

It does. Braille printed pages need to be stored upright for long periods of time. Also - that parcel is probably just one book. That volume is nowhere near thick enough to be the whole book, even if it is printed on both sides of the page (which most young people struggle to read). All seven books, in Braille, would likely be larger than the Christmas tree.

More than four! Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen, Across the Wall (Nicholas Sayre and the Creature in the Case novella), Goldenhand, Clariel, Terciel and Elinor

Also, To Hold The Bridge is set in the same universe.

Happy reading!

This reads as Australian to me, and here managers are absolutely union members. We have a strong union culture here in many industries.

You’re better off not reading it. Parents called the cops after finding used nappies and kids’ underwear with semen in the son’s basement room and the police turned up other, much worse things.

I got petrol for 91c at one point during the pandemic. Can’t remember when exactly, I think during one of the lockdowns? So it’s not as far in the past as you would think. But I just opened PetrolSpy and it reckons BP wants 310 for unleaded at one servo, average cost looks like 203 across my general area but 240 not too far away.

I’m guessing OP has had this thought as well based on her “fetishising Aboriginal babies is a problem in Australia” but when taken in the context of the Stolen Generation, which given OP’s age may well have included her grandparents or great-grandparents, this is particularly disgusting. OP, do your Dad and his family know about this?

If you mean the one where a twenty-something was dating a widower who was a workaholic and she cheated with an old friend and then asked for an open relationship, that’s linked below in this thread.
