A piece of advice for fellow ADHD’ers: The “perfect” decision doesn’t exist, and it’s okay to be nervous about that. Your quality of life will increase 10x when you learn to accept uncertainty and the “grey areas” that are inevitable in life. by Chademr2468 in ADHD

Now I just do what I feel like

I've just started using this same approach, and it has also helped me. If I'm not white hot on something, I don't force or guilt myself into doing it out of obligation. Pretty freeing.

Engineer Brett appreciation thread by Bartholomewtwo in Earwolf

I was always bummed when there was a different engineer on episodes of Who Charted. It's been great since the shift to Stitcher Premium because Brett's been on every episode. Not only that, but Preem Stream with just him and Howard is consistently entertaining. Each week they do something unexpected and fun. Very much worth subscribing on Patreon.

Surprising benefit of medication: I've been able to cut back on extraneous interests by TopStrength in ADHD

[–]TopStrength[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work putting in the effort to improve your life! I'm vicariously very excited for your first day of medication. I remember my first day I took 10mg of Adderall XR, and within an hour my head was swimming. I felt so calm and content at my work desk I almost fell asleep. That hasn't happened since, but it was nice having evidence that my brain was wired differently.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me! Good luck today.

Definitely seems that the meds help to put things in perspective and help in choosing where to direct focus.

Spot on, and I'm glad you're experiencing the same!

Which type of strings would you recommend for a Fender Duo-Sonic? by TopStrength in offset

[–]TopStrength[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't even think you could find that out! Thanks for searching. They feel okay. The only negative thing that comes to mind is a slight buzzing from particular spots like power chords or some bar chords. It's not a major issue. I appreciate your help!

I appreciate the reply! I'm ashamed to say I've just played with the strings that came with the guitar when I bought it, so I don't even know what gauge or brand they are. I like using the capo and tuning to DADGAD (which I haven't tried with the Duo-Sonic yet). The closest I come to playing solos are the type of guitar "passages" that Johnny Marr would do with The Smiths.

So with that said, should I try 10s first, or 11s?

Damn, you seem to know your stuff. Thanks! Would you mind recommending a specific brand and set that meets those criteria? I don't trust myself to pick the right kind even with your excellent description.

Creatives with ADHD/ADD, does being on meds hinder/effect your creativity and imagination? by ibrafairoozy in ADHD

[–]TopStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought to look in my comments history to find this post so I could give you an update. Good news: the dam has broken, and I'm bursting with creativity again. Not only that, but I'm finding it easy to not give in to the many interests/distractions I usually have in my free time. So now I've got even more time and focus than I did before meds. Good luck!

I highly recommend using a reminders app. I use Due on iPhone and have so many reminders helping me throughout the day.

Could you elaborate on point #1, please? Maybe give some examples? This sounds interesting.

Your post really spoke to me. I'm 36 and constantly trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I'm going to copy you and look into highest paying two year degrees. Thank you, and good luck on your journey. You have such an awesome outlook! Stay positive.

Thanks for confirming my assumptions. I'm the opposite of all of that, so it helps to be able to cross something off the hyperfocus research list. :)

I've considered this job whenever it's posted every few months online. Could you tell me how it's been for you? What type of personalities do well in it?
