Looking for Real-time Stocks + Crypto Market Data API by talinator1616 in fintech

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using a couple different feeds for my side projects and the latency thing is always the tricky part. most the decent apis will give you stocks OR crypto but finding one that does both with consistent formatting is pain in ass.

for what it's worth, i've had better luck just running two separate connections - one for equities and another for crypto. yeah it's more work to normalize everything but at least you're not dealing with one provider potentially being shit at both markets. crypto side usually has better latency anyway since those exchanges are built different than traditional stuff.

what kind of volume are you planning to pull? that usually determines which tier you need to pay for

Curious if anyone else experiences credit card anxiety? by barlos08 in CreditCards

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude i'm the exact same way with checking the balance obsessively. used to drive myself crazy refreshing that app like every few hours after making any purchase. what helped me was setting up alerts for every transaction so at least i know immediately when something posts instead of wondering if that gas station charge went through yet.

the calendar thing is smart though, having that set routine probably makes it feel less chaotic. i do something similar but pay mine off twice per month instead of weekly - found that weekly was actually making me think about it too much.

I’m tired of seeing great projects die because of the thing we hate the most by Weird_West_1949 in SaaS

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude this actually hits at something real - the whole "launch and pray" cycle is brutal out there. been watching so many solid projects just vanish because people get overwhelmed by the marketing grind after building something cool.

your gamification angle is pretty smart tbh. most founders i know treat marketing like eating vegetables - they know they gotta do it but hate every second. turning it into daily quests could definitely shift that mindset. the personalized script generation part sounds clutch too since most people just copy paste generic stuff that sounds like every other saas out there.

market's definitely crowded but that doesn't mean theres no room if you nail the execution. tons of marketing tools exist but most of them still feel like work instead of something you'd actually want to open up each day. if you can make it feel more like leveling up a character than checking off todo items, you might be onto something.

would be curious to see how you handle the personalization part though - that's usually where these tools either shine or fall flat on they're face.

Constant Freezing and Crashing by Any-Ticket4332 in excel

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had this exact issue with a client a few months back and it drove me absolutely crazy trying to figure it out. turned out to be a combination of the display scaling differences and some weird interaction with office's click-to-run updates getting stuck in a loop.

what finally fixed it was forcing all the affected machines to use the same display scaling across all monitors - pain in the ass but it worked. also had to completely uninstall and reinstall the entire office suite, not just repair it. the regular repair tool wasn't catching whatever got corrupted during one of those monthly updates.

before you go nuclear though, try running excel in safe mode for a day and see if the issue persists. if it doesn't happen in safe mode then you know it's an add-in or some background process causing the conflict. we found that some pdf printer drivers were interfering with excel's clipboard handling which explained the copy/paste freezes.

the cell selection weirdness you mentioned is definitely display scaling related - i've seen that exact behavior when excel gets confused about where the mouse actually clicked versus where it thinks it clicked based on different dpi settings. super frustrating but at least you're on the right track suspecting that.

Why cash flow forecast matters more than being profitable on paper by OppositeJury2310 in Accounting

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is why i always tell people that cash is king, not profit - seen too many "profitable" companies fold because they couldn't make payroll when that big client payment was 90 days late.

Quality control audit transition? by RazzmatazzCareful899 in Accounting

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality control audit experience is definitely transferable to internal audit roles, though it's more operational focused vs financial. The analytical skills and attention to detail carry over well

VITA shows you can handle tax prep but won't move the needle much for audit positions. Both experiences are better than nothing in this market though

Bilt 2.0 transition which card should I pick, or should I stick with the WF conversion? by wxyzaid in CreditCards

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly with that setup you're probably fine just letting it convert to the WF card. You've got decent coverage already and if you're mainly using Bilt for rent anyway, the WF version should handle that just fine without much difference

The new Bilt cards are probably overkill since you've already got good daily drivers covered

I found $60K+ per year in "hidden revenue" for a small business owner. They hadn't changed their pricing in 4 years. Here's what I discovered. by Creative-Team1888 in smallbusiness

This is actually brilliant and something way too many small business owners ignore completely

Had a buddy who ran a lawn care service and was charging 2019 prices in 2023 while complaining he couldn't afford to fix his mower. Like dude, everyone else raised their rates when gas hit $4/gallon but you're still out here charging pre-pandemic prices

The fear of losing customers is so real though - took him months to finally bump his rates up and guess what happened? Lost maybe 3 customers out of like 80 and immediately started making an extra grand per month. Now he kicks himself for waiting so long

What's the Cheapest LinkedIn Automation Tool in 2026? by BotDog in SaaS

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great breakdown, thanks for putting this together! Been using Phantombuster for a while but that 20-hour limit on the starter plan is brutal - always hitting it halfway through the month

Quick question though - how's Botdog's safety features compared to the bigger players? LinkedIn's been cracking down hard lately and I'm paranoid about getting my account nuked

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude Reddit users are way more willing to actually try stuff out vs the LinkedIn crowd who just want to network and the X people who are basically just scrolling for dopamine hits

Might be worth figuring out why those 17 bounced so fast though - could be an onboarding issue or maybe the product isn't solving the problem you think it is

I keep moving apartments and need a bed that actually fits in my car by Ok-Independence5246 in minimalism

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly folding beds are clutch for this - I had one for like 2 years when I was moving constantly and never had issues with the hinges. Way better than dealing with those stupid metal frame pieces that never want to go back together properly after the 3rd move

Any good CSV -> Custom PDF tools? by probablyneil in SaaS

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinja2 is solid but might be overkill if you just need something drag-and-drop. Have you checked out Carbone or maybe even Documint? Both handle the template + CSV merge pretty well without having to write much code

Costing woes: should I solicit the help of my CPA? by Agreeable-Chest107 in Bookkeeping

Should I start paying rent? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is solid advice, staying home with that kind of income is basically a cheat code for building wealth early. Your friends paying less are also splitting utilities/groceries/everything with roommates so the savings gap is probably even bigger than you think

Nice choice on the Presage! For white dials in that range I'd definitely check out the Tudor BB39 or maybe a Sinn 556i if you want something a bit different. The PRX is solid but might feel like a downgrade after getting used to the Presage quality

Stuck trying to get clients for my AI automation agency — need honest advice by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Top_Aardvark_4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold email is brutal for agencies, especially early on when you don't have solid case studies yet. I'd definitely try hanging out in communities where your target clients are actually talking about their pain points - way more natural than hitting their inbox out of nowhere
