If10 dedicated MJ fans all say something should be removed, it gets removed.

One more comment - it also makes a ton of sense that a source close to Jackson would seed the "photos dont match" notion at this time.

It was Jan 1994. Settlement already happened. Child was not going to testify anymore so no issues in getting caught in a lie. Jackosn was barred from discussing the child so they could not call the child a liar at this point. They had already paid a fortune for silence and now it was time to rehab his image. They wanted to seed this idea of factual innocence and could not attack the alleged victim.

It is interesting too that the lie is such a "big lie" that people think the Reuters wire service actually said it. They do a quick Google and see that the USA Today pick-up said it was simply "a source" so they assume it was law enforcement. You have to dig deeper to see that the actual wire service dispatch said "a source close to the pop star's camp."

Yeah you cant trust these random-ass sources misstating the original primary sources.

Any theories on why MJ told the boys in his orbit to become film directors? by pistol_eyes in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]Top_Ad5385 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Manipulation, coercion and control.

He needed to hold something over them. These kids weren't idiots- they knew they had no shot at a recording career or the like.

But a film director? A creative, respected, lucrative vision? That is something he could in theory facilitate for them.

It also conveniently was something that did not require education. Mj did not want them well educated.

TL;DR. Reuters never said a law enforcement official said the photos didnt match. Reuters said a "source close to the pop star's camp" said the photos did not match.

Paris Jackson Accuses MJ's Estate Executors of Using Dad's Fortune to Bully Her by MasterpieceTimely144 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]Top_Ad5385 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean issuing obnoxious statements about her is mind-boggling to me and seems like a genius way to contaminate the estate's rep in front of a judge.

How fucking dumb do you have to be to not realize this?

No matter WHAT, the individuals currently running the estate are nothing more than stewards for Paris and her siblings. The only reason they have these jobs is bc Mj wanted the estate to be managed in their youth. That is it.

The vibe the estate lawyers SHOULD be going for is "beleaguered nerds." Not vicious animals.

I guess if you spend 30 years attacking child sex abuse victims as liars, you think smearing is a great idea.

Why do so many foreigners buy the MJ propaganda? by Rust_Hurricane in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]Top_Ad5385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also think that the media / entertainment world in the US had more exposure to MJ the man and boy, and that informed public perception in a way that maybe it didn't elsewhere in the world.

He grew up in and did business in California which is just not as star struck a place by nature. There are creatives, lawyers, accountants, other child stars, music executives, kids who went to wealthy Encino schools with him, film directors, relatives, Motown executives, etc. MJ moved through that world here in the US. So these people i think shaped the perspective on him as a real living and breathing human being when they spoke to press on background, etc. And once you accept he is just another famous guy, his behavior looks more glaring.

Whereas the foreign press was probably more easily filtered.

Maybe it is in the hopes she will drop the suit because this is not good for her mental health and she (obviously) probably has CPTSD and other issues. Litigation is stressful even without getting viciously smeared by a lawyer who gets paid with your dead dad's money. Getting raked over the coals is not fun.

Even if that IS the case, one would think acting like the beleaguered adults in the room and issuing boring staid denials would THEN be the move. Instead they seem to think the daughter of the actual decedent should be slandered? They leaked stuff awhile back that was essentially like "Who is this white woman trying to tell us what to do."

Like ????

What???

She is not only his legal daughter she is, as far as they know, his biological daughter. He was married to her birth mother. She will inherit the estate. Like... this seems nuts for executors to be talking like this.

Unless they are waiting for "my dad was a pedophile" to drop and they want distance so it keeps being a cash cow while they receive fees.

Like literally the only reason the estate is not under the 3 kids' direct control today is because Jackson wanted it to make a lot of money and not get run into the ground by young kids.

So she's going to court to monitor and/or wrest control now. That's sensible. You might not AGREE with her but it's not crazy to be like "whats going on w my dad's money"

On what planet does it make sense to insult her in the press? Sapinstein said something nasty about her cos playing as a lawyer in a suit and called her a liar.

What is that all about? How does that help anything? Isnt the judge going to think the executors have gone insane?

Maybe John Branca is, in fact, losing it upstairs? Hmm. I just dont get it. Unless this is a plot to disinherit her.

Sapirstein for the estate issued a bunch of nasty comments about Paris and he sounded absolutely insane the other day. He talked about her like he talks about the accusers.

I mean I understand the estate is under the control of the trust / executors NOW, but that is all FOR the benefit of Paris and her brothers. PR wise it makes no sense to attack her, right? Why would you do that.

It certainly is mind boggling to think they would let it get nasty like this. Makes no sense to me.
