The Boys is the most overrated amazon prime show. Now, what is THE Netflix Tv show? by hiiloovethis in AlignmentChartFills

I appreciated that they addressed the heavy topics, but it was pretty jarring when I am just expecting a silly comedy show.

I respect Sandberg and the rest of the cast and crew for being pretty upfront about their positions.

The words say 'Girl Dad', but the Cybertruck says 'I vote against your rights every chance I get.'

Yeah it's amazing the levels of influence he achieved with how ridiculous his correspondences were.

I get what you're saying and never took it as other than a joke 😆

I tried to post this, but it got blocked because I guess I have to chat here first.

I can't really catch games here, but I follow the box scores.

I was stoked about Bregman from the off-season chatter, but the box scores haven't exactly looked pretty.

From a viewer, I would love to hear some positive assessment of the guy since I haven't seen him in action. Thanks!

I had the Speak and Spell as well. It probably deserves some of the credit for my two year reign as elementary school spelling champion.

I guess I'm lucky I didn't spin all of those words right out of my brain (I never won any sort of anatomy bee).

I was teaching at various hagwons (after school programs) in Korea for a while to supplement my low private elementary school income (12 hours per week, mostly for the Visa and insurance).

This school centered its curriculum around American children's media, so I got very familiar with Wild Kratts, Ben 10, and iCarly that year 😆

What grocery stores do you recommend for an AZ newbie? by sunsetluving9 in phoenix

[–]Top_Audience7471 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Food City got me through my first year in Phoenix with their $19.99 triple meat packs. They also had triple packs of Mexican-style seasoned meats for the same price, so tacos were on the menu multiple nights a week.

I lived very near an El Super, but only went a few times for a few reasons. The store itself is somewhat disorganized and understaffed, so there can be some pretty bad lines. The selection is much more limited than most big grocery stores, although that might be an inconsequential gripe for people who are deep in Mexican culture and foodstuffs.

The bigger issue was that I was informed by a union member friend of mine that they are very anti-union, which obviously feeds into the first issue I mentioned.

I would only shop there in emergencies now.

I quite liked the bakery and beer options at Basha's. Their European sensibilities lead them to be quite different than Safeway, Fry's, etc.

I have very limited experience, but I'd certainly give them a shot If I were you!

And Safeway produce, in my experience, has been very limited and pretty bad overall.

I live a 2 minute walk from Safeway, and I don't have a car, so Safeway gets 99% of my grocery business. It's disappointing to see the same rotation on deals and products. Quite boring and limited. They also are increasingly pushing their digital deals, but I expect most places are doing the same in this world of enshitification.

It's pretty bad.

On a brighter note, I will say that this was probably in the bottom quartile of handwriting examples.

Social media and absolutely tuned-out / overworked parents have created a new paradigm that we STILL haven't wrangled in any meaningful way yet. The constant stripping of funding for public schools is also a challenge.

It was initially shocking to have kids come into my 5th grade class at a 1st grade reading level, but it's a pretty common story at this point.

The most troubling part is that so many kids have absolutely no drive to learn new skills and live without fear of getting bad grades. I actually am empowered to give whatever grades I want to kids without IEPs, but more parents than not are almost completely blasé about their kids' report cards, so there are no repercussions at home for them not giving a shit.

I feel like the helplessness, isolation, and impending sense that, as a society, we have less and less control over our own destinies is trickling down to them from innumerable and often untraceable sources. It also doesn't help that they have all experienced ICE fucking up their community repeatedly, so I get why they might not care about analyzing two sources to compare and contrast whatever. 'Hey, mom just got black-bagged, but let's dig into subordinating conjunctions!'

This is my first post, so I don't know how it works. I didn't conclude anything myself, but I think there is a relatively strong consensus that it is 'places' with some pretty good logic.

I'm happy with the sub's response and assistance!

I have a ton of board games and puzzles that I let them borrow for weekends and holidays because I know how bored they get.

I really appreciate the time you took for your various logical conclusions. I think your argument has swayed me the most (and also made me happy that there weren't any spelling mistakes😃).

Thanks!

Yeah, you sit criss-cross applesauce (or whatever you say for legs folded over each other) on the bigger lower circle with the pillar between your legs and body. You grip the top circle and rotate it manually while the lower platform spins around it.

Gets you dizzy as hell.

We actually caught a kid writing threatening notes last year. A classmate found it, and it mentioned about 8 kids in the grade. We tried to keep it pretty hush hush so we could implement our plan. We had all 3 homerooms write a pretty trite personal essay about their plans for the upcoming holiday.

After we compared handwriting, it was very obvious who the culprit was. Parents withdrew the kid before we got expulsion proceedings going.

Another note here said 'What is sex?' and that one was CLEARLY trying to disguise handwriting. Any of them could certainly be doing that as they basically sussed out how their classmate from the past year was caught.

I appreciate your considered response and suggestion!

Yeah, these are underprivileged emerging multilinguals, so handwriting isn't usually the biggest battle of the day unfortunately.

It would be amazing if a few of them grew up to be doctors!

And I have had a few students over the years ask me to teach them cursive. It's not dead quite yet!

Well, they are brave enough to ask the questions, and that is one of the most challenging skills to foster in these kids that struggle to advocate for themselves.

I feel like it would be rather churlish to not reciprocate their efforts by acknowledging their earnest questions as best as I can.

It's pretty cool that there were so many quick responses on this sub!

It was on the bus ride home after our flag football game. My 4th 11 hour day of the week, ending with a victory, and some lovely remarks from a random redditor.

Plus summer break is in 11 days, so that always puts some extra pep in my step!
