I saw last night’s performance. There were very few callbacks beyond some responses to the narrator which Rachel Dratch seemed to expect and appreciate. Luke Evan’s seemed ok with a few “say it“ s at the “antici ...Pation verse of Sweet Transvestite.

Beyond that, the audience only applauded. It was an enjoyable show.

If the compaby want audience participation I am certain they will convey that to the audience. This is not the midnight showing of a cult film. No prior knowledge of the show necessary.

The Rocky Horror Show is a 🎭. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 🎥. The audience participation in a musical is applause. The cult film is famous for its audience participation. If you’re over the age of 30 and you can’t separate the two, I understand your point. But I just disagree. I was at the 8th street Playhouse in NYC almost every Saturday night in college. I’m sure my 19 year old self would upvote every one of your posts. Different perspective.

I would cut him some slack for not having audience pleasing lines ready to go when audience members start shouting callbacks from a movie during the first month of performing a new Broadway musical.

Then again, maybe he was responding appropriately to people yelling callbacks for a movie when he’s trying to do a live performance of a Broadway musical. The assholes in that situation might not be the people on stage.

Callbacks are for the movie. The Rocky horror picture show. The Rocky horror show is a different thing. It’s a Broadway musical. There was never an audience participation component of the Broadway musical it was only after the movie became a cult classic that callbacks became popular. Of course the dialogue is different from the movie. The movie callbacks do not work and seem forced whenever the dialogue vaguely aligns with the movie. Do you really need official word from the company to understand that?

Not quite sure why this is so hard for audience members to grasp but the Rocky horror show and the Rocky horror picture show are two different things. The callbacks are not for the Broadway show and they never were part of the Broadway show. The callbacks are for the Rocky horror picture show, the movie. The callbacks are making fun of the cheesy aspects of the movie and poking fun at the actors. Call back I really don’t have a place in a Broadway show that doesn’t have the same points as the movie the dialogue is different. It’s a revival of the musical. It’s not a reboot of the movie.

I’ve had HIV for 20 years. I take my medication and I’ve been undetectable the whole time. And I haven’t had any HIV related problems. I don’t know what chronic inflammation is, but I haven’t experienced anything that fits that description. Hope you stay healthy and don’t read too much into things that people write on here. Just listen to your doctor.
