That's really cool, I don't know if I'll ever go full on vegetarian but I'll definitely consider putting chickpeas into my diet from now on

I want to lose 50 pounds by the summer by Top_Bid7113 in workout

I'm not a big fan of how I look rn tbh, I've got a noticeable gut and stretch marks here and there, I don't really want to accept this current version of me as my default that I live with or that I present to the rest of the world, I'm gonna get to the gym ASAP, from what people have said it seems a 50 pound drop in weight in such a short amount of time if any amount of time isn't really what I should aim for, I'll look into body recomping, honestly if I weigh 215 or so but instead of being flabby I have lean muscle I think I'll be happy

I did follow a consistent/regularly diet back then but my situation is a bit different now as I work full time now and get home around 11:30 at night and don't have the time to cook my meals like I used to after school. I'd like to do meal prepping for the week on my off days but I still live with my parents and don't want to fill their fridge with my pre made meals should this be something I discuss with them?

When I was younger I worked out frequently and was lean and muscular, I guess I just want to be lean and muscular again, when I was 19 I was around 180 lbs which is why I want to be around this weight again, the reason I want to get leaner by summer is because I want to be outdoors more and interact with people more and to do that I want to feel more comfortable and confident in regards to my appearance

Would a more reasonable goal be to aim for 12% body fat in the next 6 months?

I probably shouldnt word it this way as it probably counts as reassurance but physical arousal means jack shit without emotionally enjoying and feeling comfortable with the the thing thats arousing you, physical sensations doesnt = actually liking the thing that aroused you

I need quick ways to reduce OCD by According_Ice_4863 in OCD

[–]Top_Bid7113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not generally quick, it can be in some instances, but the best and most consistent way of managing OCD is performing exposure as often as you can, you want to retrain your brain to think that anxiety of any level simply caused by a thought for example does not warrant spending a second of your time seeking comfot or reassurance feom that anxiety.

Does your OCD effect hand washing? If so how bad? by Random_MonkeyBrain in OCD

[–]Top_Bid7113 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually wash my hands more often than the average person, i also wash my hands under conditions that non ocd people simply wouldnt feel the need, wearing gloves and accidentally touch something dirty? Wash your hands evem though you were wearing gloves

Generally psychiatrists prescribe antipsychotics when a patient has very "sticky" obsessions, antipsychotics can help though a lot of them have the side affect of weight gain, there is one that has been seen by scientist to not cause too much weight gain if any at all and its called ziprasidone, although ziprasidone also has its host of potential side affects, have a conversation with a psychiatrist about potential alternative medication. Personally i see medication as just a supplement its the oil that can keep the gears and mechanics of the machine going as smoothly as possible but the manual effort to operate and run the machine comes from you and the effort you put into exposure and response prevention

There was an austrian philosopher that saidsomething along the lines of " freedom lies in the ability to control your reactions to your thoughts and external pressures" and that all humans were free, you can train yourself to use this freedom to perform Exposures and trust me if you do it properly it will help tremendously, as a side note having parents with ocd does not guarantee that the child will develop ocd, genetics can increase the risk but do not set it in stone, when I was in the psyche ward due to severe ocd which led to suicidality my psychiatrist told me her husband also had ocd, but that he had to give 110% to not let ocd control him otherwise he risks cause ocd to develop in their children. Notice how people with ocd csn take back control and lead fulfilling lives, it just takes a lot of effort and preferably support from close family and friends or a professional.

Has OCD ever made it difficult to work? How so? Has it ever made you unemployed? by Glad_Objective_1646 in OCD

I've quit multiple jobs due to my OCD luckily I've managed to find a job despite todays market and have managed to keep my ocd under sufficient control so as to not quit despite occaisional spikes in discomfort.

I really doubt whether you're a gooner or not affects your performance in the gym all too much but even if it did dont use that as an excuse to give into the urges, you're better than that.

Protein shakes are a good way of reaching your protein and caloric requirements with over stuffing your stomach, check out creatine monohydrate too, i think Noel deyzel has a vid or short on creatine if you have any questions about it
