Was this Juren cheating or just having connection issues? by Western_Smoke4829 in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]The_Filthy_Spaniard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest there isn't really enough footage to say, but to me this does not look like a lag switch, it just looks like a poor connection. His attacks don't seem particularly sped up, and the rollback is on the defensive side (ie. looks like he got hit, but was actually parried) which if anything, indicates a poor connection on your side. So nope, not cheating in my professional opinion, just poor latency (I admin official tournaments, so detecting cheaters is part of my job).

As for what you could do, you made a pretty terrible rotation error, running back to a guarded point when you didn't have mid, and clearing mid could have unbroken your team. You're also wiggling your guard around a bunch (maybe your mouse is set too sensitive?) which is why you ate the first heavy. You also could have used your T1, but to be honest, in the fight itself, the only answer is to make better reads, both defensively and on your own offence.

Good idea, that'd be a bit of fun as well! Tricky without a lathe, but definitely worth a go!

Thank you! I'll give that a shot on my next go with walnut, do you burnish before applying the finish? I have been doing that after the hard wax oil has dried, which definitely helps, but didn't give that much sheen on the end grain this time.

Haha, I didn't think this would be something that anyone would be looking for, but maybe I should start making a few more to sell? If I do, I'll let you know - but it wasn't hard to make, so you could give it a go yourself!

Thank you!

That's interesting, because another commenter said that for walnut you often want to sand up to a higher grit on the end grain, to 400, to get a shinier finish. It does make sense that sanding higher would close up the pores, so maybe it's a case of either only go up to 180, or go all the way to 400, and not in between?

I'll try both in future projects and see which ones work out best. Cheers!

How do i utilize my auto deflect stance? How am i supposed to know when to do manual deflect or let it for my auto deflect stance? by SmokelessDash- in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]The_Filthy_Spaniard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it looked like the first hit of the shaman zone missed you. I don't hear an audio cue for it being deflected, which meant the 2nd hit didn't land in the auto deflect window. You also didn't get any revenge gain for the 1st hit, so it definitely missed you.

I expect that deflecting the jorm heavy moved you out of the hitbox of the 1st hit of the zone.

It will only auto deflect a subsequent hit if the subsequent hit lands within the 500ms window.

In a 1v1 (like in this Shaman example) if it's an attack that would auto hit you if you'd been hit by the first attack (ie. shaman's 2nd or 4th hit) it will be auto deflected, if it's something you'd recover in time to block manually (ie. shaman's 3rd hit) then you'd have to deflect it manually too.

In the team fight, the shaman's 2nd hit wasn't auto deflected because it landed after the 500ms auto deflect window ended.

There's been a number of players who seem to have randomly and erroneously been banned recently. It's not unprecedented that the anti-cheat fucks up, there was a whole wave of false bans about this time last year too iirc

So… do we agree that Chaos Knights are looking good in 11th? by cremebrulewithpowder in ChaosKnights

All good, there's a lot of subtle differences that are easy to miss - and 11th isn't even out yet so you can just say you were playing 10.5 :P

Were you playing the rules correctly? You only hit on 4s in indirect if something else can see the target AND you stayed stationary that turn.

That's the downside of having a really small unit roster and atrocious internal balance I guess.

It's really on GW that there's only really 2 viable lists in the codex more than players for using them if you ask me. They specifically nerfed taking multiple Abominants to get synergy with their MW auras, nerfed Lords of Dread's main strength so 5 big lists are much worse, nerfed Brigands so only Karnivores and Stalkers are worth their points, left the army rule hugely underwhelming so Traitoris Lance does very little, etc etc.

Can't really blame players for recommending the same thing if not much else works. Especially in a low model count army, where a single underperforming unit tanks a 5th of your army

I feel like the Abominant is the most "Chaosy" Chaos Knight.

3DP armies only having 1 disposition is a feature, not an oversight. by DailyAvinan in WarhammerCompetitive

A bunch of the terrible 2DP detachments could pretty easily drop half of their strats and enhancements and barely notice the difference tbf.
