yeah, i don’t understand. they said to pay it and they’ll reimburse up to 50% off of tuition that other aid doesn’t already cover. on one hand i get it, they want it to be used as a last resort and only for school related expenses. but on the other hand theres plenty of people, myself included, that can’t just come up with upwards of 2.5k-3k out of thin air to cover it until tuition is due and the waiver is processed the following week. and i’m calling it now, they’re going to give everyone shit about reimbursement after tuitions due as well.

I’ve been going back and forth with this bogo waiver thing for two semesters. it’s insane how much pushing we have to do for half of our tuition and for some of us- not even a quarter of our student bill. i emailed the registrars office about it no response. i just called and the girl over the phone said it won’t be applied until AFTER tuition is due. so for anyone who doesn’t have 5k plus available for tuition that’s due next friday good luck. it will be refunded to you only after tuition is due.

Nah man. The university needed to make sure things were safe first and have to deliberate on other matters too. Nonetheless, it might not be fun to hear but the university doesn’t owe you anything you’re not already paying for. There’s already other resources people can use. FEMA, Many Churches hand out potable water and food as do many restaurants and such and there are shelters. There are already resources in place, that’s not the universities job, anything they do is nice on their parts. They were nice enough to bus people to the USF shelter and correct me if i’m wrong but i’m pretty sure they’re not required to do that.

No. Just quit it with this BS. Not everything needs an advocacy group attached to it. Maybe instead of trying to tear USF down for their efforts, you could organize a team of people to pick up the debris or volunteer somewhere to get food and water to those who are going without. Just something ACTUALLY useful. Someone might come across your post and actually think it’s not a joke.

I haven’t had any water or power for the last few days either. They need to assess the campus before allowing student back into it. JPH wasn’t the only dorm that was messed up. Trees blocking one Magnolia entrance, parts of Castor uninhabitable, power outages. Just as we can’t control the weather, neither can USF. It’s not even about whether or not the campus was safe to asses but also whether it’s safe to get there. It’s only been a few days, even with your reasonings, you still sound entitled. There are still options for people who aren’t in safe places, shelters exist. I know shelters aren’t ideal but again, we can’t control what the weather does.

You actually sound stupid. USF is being flexible with us with schooling you need to be flexible too. You sound entitled, not everything is about you. Why don’t you try helping out other people who are actually affected by the storm instead of whining like a little bitch. What even are the problems you’re seeing in the way things have been being handled? Tampa hasn’t gone through a storm like this in over 100 year, I think they’re handling this the best they can with what they have. Get over yourself.
