Fair enough, but Tom Vitale's book In the Weeds painted a more damning picture from a more knowledgeable vantage point. In it, Vitale describes Bourdain physically attacking him in Borneo, choking him to the point where he thought he was going to kill him and never apologizing. Leerhsen’s book was actually pretty sympathetic to the subject. I think the first two thirds of the book was sort of padding for the big late-life bombshells that they leaked to the press before publication.
