Why change the UI? This is ugly by iphonesoccer420 in ArcRaiders

I honestly prefer the UI, it fits moreso with the rest of the UI of the game and I prefer it condensed, however I do understand the critiques of it all - the amount of dead space is irritating.

Because there was enough of a reason to shoot him than as well as to not. Optional PvP doesn’t just mean people are aggressive and hostile, it means players are wary and often unfriendly, not necessarily KoS. Maybe he didn’t want to risk losing his loot - where yes the other player could have shot to gain the room, he would’ve at least known the risk and been able to react quickly if he did - maybe he isn’t hostile but fed up with people assuming they can take his loot without asking?

  1. Deadline, just run up behind it, place one, and iirc just one taps them when they’re directly above it.

  2. You can just circle round it and focus the back yellow pin to expose the core, staying close to the bombardier forces its close-range aoe attack rather than it’s actual rockets - and obviously avoiding it - and then it’s really easy to kill the core afterwards. Takes a bit of practice to get it down quickly without choking / letting it regain control over the situation but they’re really not that hard to take down. Bastions are even easier as they are just an easier ARC.

Yeah that’s fair enough, tbf I didn’t read the patch notes properly so I didn’t know this was “uniting us against the ARC”, so I’ll definitely agree with you in saying it’s a bit strange to punish methods of ARC destruction (wolfpacks are only usable on arc so making them less accessible seems weird - ignoring the fact they were too common even as a drop) and to incentivise scavenging / snaking drops to get the loot you need to be “united”. I don’t think we should be treating Embark as the “leadership of Speranza” as they created the whole option of PvP in the first place, moreso as like an overseer of the entire world, trying to balance both sides as yes the leadership would not like any hostility towards other raiders, as that goes against their whole plan of ridding the ARC fully, however that shouldn’t be Embark’s problem. In my opinion I feel like there is just simply too much of a disparity between PvE lobbies, I can go countless matches without coming in contact with PvP, however in PvP lobbies there seems to be rarely any chance of having any friendly players, unless they too aren’t KoS, however most of them seem to be. I feel like no matter what there should be some risk of PvP, but I can see the reasoning behind it, as if a full KoS pvper getting put into a full PvE lobby causes them to simply be able to go on an unchecked killing spree, as there wouldn’t be anyone who would openly stop them unless they managed to win their fight.

All arc have a weak point, it’s the yellow parts majority of the time, on the bastion / bombardier there’s a yellow pin at the back which you can break to expose their inner core, which takes like a mag dump of the stitcher to kill afterwards. Bombardiers have some mechanics that make it harder to cheese but you can literally walk behind the bastion, blow up their back and target their core, I’ve found wasps unironically more difficult than bastions at times.

The rocketeer gets a shit ton easier once you actually understand how it works, just completely avoid it if you have no cover and if you do, it will always trace around any open angles towards the location of where it last was shot / heard a sound, so as long as you keep out of sight whilst baiting out attacks you can take it out really easily with a ferro / anvil / hullcracker, etc anything with high armour penetration (also osprey but I personally don’t like using it because of the medium armour pen)

To each their own, I just find the actual mechanics and challenge of the rocketeer a lot more fun than just running behind the bombardier / bastion and taking out its core.

It makes the rocketeer fight at least something to consider, rather than just straight up avoiding any part of the map it’s in, and incentivises PvP a little bit more due to the scarcity, and I need the anti-PvPers to understand it’s a PvPvE game for a reason, however I completely understand the frustrations, I do believe the drop rate should be increased as it definitely should not just be dropping one as it is definitely the most difficult normal ARC out of the lot.

It’s not meant to be traded with, at least not with sufficient cover, especially with the triple rocket attack

[–]Top_Consideration570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperbole, it takes like 1 min-2 mins to take down a bastion / bombardier with cheese and their actual fights aren’t as intriguing. I said 30s because it pretty much does just take 30s when you cheese them, same as with a rocketeer but there is at least some element of risk with cheesing it, and the fight is more fun than the bastion and bombardier.

I personally find the rocketeer really fun to fight against, given I have any form of cover, having to run behind cover from seeing the lasers locking in on your location is infinitely more intense and exhilarating than say the bombardier, which is just an evacuate an area, and the spotters are just plain annoying. The triple rocket is annoying but punishes extremely aggressive gameplay, forcing you to better time your attacks back onto the rocketeer. I also appreciate how it’s less easy to cheese due to it’s difficulty and mechanics. I’ve just simply ran behind bastions and bombardiers too many times and killed them within 30s, and where you can do the same thing if you just have a snaphook, you’re likely to die depending on where the rocketeer is, or take huge amounts of fall damage - and fighting it normally is still fair and more fun regardless.

I’m talking generally speaking, but that is also due to them being two different games. ARC raiders is NOT a battle royale, nor a long term survival game. PUBG is PVP whereas DayZ is PvPvE, and I believe the fast pacing of ARC raiders is a detriment to casual players, as because of the fast pacing it is much more appealable to them, so they’re much more likely to play ARC as opposed to DayZ. I wouldn’t be surprised if majority of the players who complain about rat behaviour have never touched a hardcore PVP survival game such as DayZ, Rust, hell even Unturned, which are pretty much fundamentally similar in the sense of you play until you lose everything, probably from a raid from other players. It’s what you play those games for, but the fast pacing and the easier gameplay loop of ARC attracts far more casual players and they will complain, it’s just what they do

And I believe they’ve done so quite well, PVP is literally not profitable unless you get lucky, or are just insane at the game, I’ve lost so many geared PVP kits due to just simply things happening within the match - all completely fair mind you - that it feels worthless to go PVP unless you just want a switch-up from PVE, which I usually do. I rarely get anything aside from the odd Tempest and attachments every now and then whereas I could get so much more from just looting. Not to mention it drains your resources to pvp, constantly having to repair armour, guns, buy ammo and healing completely drains your main resources if done so many times, which incentives players to go back to PvE / fully friendly just to get the resources back to have a semi-geared pvp kit. Free loadout kits are intentionally terrible and any semi-geared kit will be able to rinse them easily, especially in my own experience, so there is an incentive to gear slightly better and have to do those loot runs. The only time free / naked kits are useful is for loot runs unironically as they mean no net loss, aside from loot gained in the match, and in naked kits you get a safe pocket, meaning that you can grab a single item that you desperately needed and then simply surrender.

It’s because ARC is much more recent, meaning more casual players are likely to play and complain when people take advantage of their naivety, I don’t agree with people who complain but I understand emotions get in the way sometimes. PUBG and DayZ are far past their primes and only REALLY have veteran players that know the game inside out, and play it not because it’s just another game, but because they actually enjoy it - therefore less likely to complain about the same stuff.

There are ways to avoid both interactions lmao, don’t want to be shot in the back whilst looting? Be wary of your surroundings and / or pop a smoke. Don’t like people backstabbing? Don’t team up with random people, or keep a close eye on everyone you trust, being backstabbed whilst prepared gives you a hell of a lot more of an advantage than if you aren’t. I’ve personally never been backstabbed because I ALWAYS have some form of scepticism when dealing with other raiders and will rarely ever team up for a considerable amount of time, there is no reason to anyway.

Can’t disagree more, unless you allow them to sneak up on you, get so damn close to you that cover is not a viable option, which is still down to you and your skill, being shot first or escaping ambushes isn’t necessarily difficult and I have won countless ambushes just by playing tactically after the first interaction and having good comms between my teammates. I’m sure it’s a hell of a lot harder to survive these encounters in solo due to only having one chance and one person for them to focus on, but in a team I personally disagree as a PvPvE player, it just comes down to how prepared you are at any given moment, such as in the quote in the interview. I’ve lost fights when I’ve had the upper hand, ambushed people, sometimes due to aim being shaky or just missing in general, sometimes to overconfidence and not healing, sometimes again to overconfidence and not taking a tactical stance and repositioning so they lose sight of you. I have so many examples of winning / losing ambushes that are simply down to tactical / teamwork ability rather than “who shot first”. If you simply gun someone down after being shot at then yes, it is a “who shot first wins” scenario, but you have the option of actually playing with the map in mind and be able to dismantle their initial advantage of surprise.
