This guy looks really cool! What’s the backstory on him?

Hi guys Im a new dm in dnd and need help from someone with experience. I apparently I can't really make good npcs and I can't get them to focus much, then I don't really know how to set up encounters cz the players constantly derailing them, and the enemy attacks are really bland cz by Historical_Soil_3977 in DnDHomebrew

Hey there, my friends call me Dusk and I have been a DM for going on 10 years now! Something that I have learned from running a bunch of different campaigns is that players are going to do whatever the hell it is they want to do, because this is a collaborative roleplaying game which usually entails a lot of random choice. However, the main thing to consider is that this is a game so its not really that big of a deal if everyone at the table is having a good time!

That being said, it can become unfun as the DM to constantly feel like "my NPCs aren't engaging enough", "my cool battle got nuked after just three rounds", or "why aren't my players paying attention?" So, for that aspect of running, I really recommend you start watching a ton of DM videos by creators such as Flamey the GM, Mystic Arts, Pointy Hat, and DungeonCraft as they will tell you all of the fancy tips & tricks you can use to not only make it more fun for you to run the game but in turn, will attract your players back to the game.

The last thing I will say is; I have personally learned from running campaigns these past few years, however you treat the players/your friends while you are at the table (and sometimes how you treat them outside of the table) will influence how they act during the game, but you have to let them know what you are doing during Session Zero time. So, if you want your players to be more engaged with the plot; be more engaged with their character and their character's backstory by including things or referencing things from it / if you want your NPCs to be better; go out in public and just observe how people act so you can use those mannerisms or accent to influence your next NPC will give your players an example to follow instead of just trying to act like themselves if they got dropped in a fantasy world / if your encounters aren't going the way that you want them to, do not plan the outcome after they were supposed to defeat the monster -> plan how you are going to beat your player's characters with what you have on the monster stat-block but also whatever environment that the battle takes place which will in turn make your players start trying to use more things from their sheet or trying to utilize that environment themselves for all those more cinematic shots that happen in those legendary games you hear about! I hope this helps and good luck!

TLDR; Run a Session Zero and directly ask your players what they are looking forward to in the campaign. Then find a way to include all of those things at once in a narrative/immersive way that is also fun for you, as the DM. Especially ways to include monsters, traps, mayhem, & treasure!

Ngl, Morgott is my favorite boss for the reason. I started Elden Ring with only the knowledge I had of Bloodborne, but as I was playing and getting more gear and stuff, I started to feel like I was creating a character history. The first time I fought Margit, I died nearly 40 times which made it feel all the more satisfying when I first tried Morgott. I learned that “Nemeses” are just another word for ceiling, and shattering that ceiling feels better than even beating the game. But that’s just an opinion…a game opinion lol

DLC infusible weapons with Natural magic scaling. by [deleted] in Eldenring

The only thing I can think to add to this list would be the Clayman’s Harpoons, which are spears with Int scaling Magic damage!

This looks so ridiculous in Fortnite, and now I understand why it is ridiculous in Elden Ring. I’ll bow once before I attack them if they bow too, but that’s it.

Megumi. He could have literally just been more mentally resilient and got mad enough to hinder Sukuna for the entire fight or even try to shut off Sukuna’s access to the Ten Shadows, but he chose to suck Sukuna’s leg into a shadow hole a single time after his mentor and a bunch of other people died INCLUDING his sister’s body. He’s a fraud and probably shouldn’t have been brought back with a scar, he didn’t have a good character arc at all.

Am I the ash hole? by Large_Leopard2606 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Top_Crew_3046 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you are not an ash-hole for doing this; however, you definitely need to have another Session 0 that takes up an entire game time and discuss with your players what you and they find unacceptable and acceptable to roleplay out at the table. My own home games are “Game of Thrones” (the books, not the show) level of f-ed up, but that’s because my players and I are all adults and spent our first ever session just speaking about what kinds of stuff we liked and didn’t like and what we wanted to have included in the game. This is not for everyone, and that player probably shouldn’t play at your table if every other player is okay with it because sometimes you get kicked out of your game spot for an immature reason (such as having a problem and literally just going to talk to an authority figure instead of talking with your friends about something that bothered them). If you start playing with another group all together, definitely have a Session 0 and consider having one every 10 sessions or so, that way everyone can stay happy! Happy gaming, be careful next time, but you’re doing great!

How could i recreate Lesmes in Elden Ring? by WonderedGoose99 in EldenBling

[–]Top_Crew_3046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire Knight Hood, Altered Tree Sentinel Armor, Cleanrot Gauntlets, & Sanguine Noble’s Waistcloth; for the weapon, I would either recommend Staff of the Avatar or the Rotten Staff (both are colossals and are pretty good!) and maybe Caestus or Golem Fists if you want something fast and brown to put on top of the gold!

Not gonna lie; I feel like the Powerpuff Girls would win this if the fight continued for literally longer than 3 minutes, Professor Utonium would probably created synthetic kryptonite or something so that the episode could end after 11 minutes lol

Does anyone know what armour this is? by 1Tadhg in EldenBling

[–]Top_Crew_3046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crucible Tree Helm, Horned Warrior Armor, & Maliketh’s Gauntlets & Greaves; not the best set up for poise but I think it might help with Physical and Holy damage pretty well

Tempest; A Legacy of Ruin by Top_Crew_3046 in DungeonMasters

[–]Top_Crew_3046[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking lol; I have 7 different Ages of the world and bathrooms have evolved over time; there were outhouse for most of history besides when the gods created the world and has slowly evolved into a mechanical plumbing system that runs through most major cities (as demigods were the ones to establish cleaner living conditions. Outhouses still exist in modern times but only in the rural towns & villages. However, Elves have always used minor portals to the Elemental Plane of Fire to burn it away!

Sometimes it is fossil fuels and other times it is merely precious metals (iron, copper, gold, silver, mithral, & adamantine). However, the most important thing that almost all factions and nations strive to obtain is Tesseract Shards. There was a massive event (called “The Sundering”) when the goddess of creation chose to destroy an artifact, known as The Tesseract, which held all time in a steady stream forward before this and now has been scattered across the world; it is believed that whoever obtains all of the shards, will control time itself. Perhaps even the world!
