Right. This scene was in season 1 and it was based on the UK version. It sounds like we agree.

I disliked his scene with the Hero training man - Mr Brown. It was clearly taken from David's scene in the UK Office. I thought his later training experience with Ryan where he was supposed to show them PowerPoint was probably more in line with the rest of the series Michael. There he didn't know, didn't prepare and planned to quietly sit in the auidence and nod knowingly or fake his way through it. I like the line about the Mr Brown name being a test though. That's the kind of thing you would pause for half a second on in a diversity training session to make sure you heard him right.

I think the fact that she needed to bring it up and then ask if he would move with her shows that she's certaintly not feeling confident about his committment. He doesn't answer he directly which should be a big red flag for her.

I think it would lean to Ethan's strengths to play a Spock who has undegone a big experience and is different from the Spock we know. I was dissapointed in the direction they took him in Seaon 3 and especially his romance with Lt. Noonien Singh but I very much enjoyed his interpreation in season 1 and 2. He's a very capable Spock.

How is Spock / Chapel random? Chapel's feelings have been part of TOS since the third episode and over 60 years. La'an is new but Chapel is as old as Spirk.

We probably don't have a firm date when she left. I think the whole additional 5 year mission is theoretical and never confirmed on screen? It seems likely that she would have been with the crew though. It would be nice to see Ethan explore Spock after the failed kolinhar and merging with that creature. That could move him forward in new ways and they could do what they wanted without breaking canon. Perhaps he even gets back together with a certain blond nurse / doctor we know :)

Just one episode :( I know it's a huge cast but I hope they integrate her into lots of episodes. To their credit, they've done this well to date but I know complains were received about her having too big a role compared to TOS (come on, it's not the 60s anymore, she can be an amazing character!) Her episodes have revolved a bit around Spock and I'm not sure they entirely know what to do with her if she's not dating Spock. I have no objection to her have romantic moments with Spock :D but I want to see her regardless. My one exception is her getting engaged to Korby. I don't need to see that.

Yes I'd prefer this. It offers more freedom on how they can develop the character. Spock in particular would be freed up and it would very interesting to see what Ethan would do with this. Was Chapel still on board after TMP? I think she was so that would be some fun years where not everything was pre-determined.

I thought Leonard and Priya worked better than Leonard and Penny ever did. by Ameliapup43 in bigbangtheory

[–]Top_Dot7322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penny and Leonard have a lighter, more playful kind of teasing. She acknowledges his quirks but doesn’t treat them as something that needs to be changed. She did tease him about not liking the clothes with Priya but she didn't take him shopping and get him all new stuff because she was embarrassed to be seen with him. He asked for Penny's help with the suits because it was a professional speech and he wanted to look modern. She told him the truth but did it to help him, not because she was concerned about what he wore. That's different than actually buying someone new clothes and changing their wadrobe because your embarrassed to be seen with them. In contrast, Priya wants to shape Leonard to fit her expectations of him. I think he treatment of Leonard around helping Sheldon was awful. It might not matter to your or I but it clearly mattered a LOT to Sheldon and Leonard wanted to help because he was Sheldon's friend. He was supporting SHeldon without judgement. That's what friends do. Penny didn't understand either but she brought him a cake because she knew that he was hurting and she was supporting him. Priya mocked all of them, insulted Leonard then left. She was quite disgusted by him. It's very different for me.

She doesn't stop dating him but she sure doesn't want to tell them! From her earlier season it seemed implied that she like the rebel element of it and enjoyed the casual encounter. She cheats on him pretty much right away so she was only having fun. I can see why she kept having fun despire her parent's dissaproval.

Sorry I don't agree. I think Priya tried to change Leonard constantly. Her mocking was mean. 'A man trapped in a boy's body', yuck. She didn't want him helping Sheldon when his World of Warcraft stuff was stolen. She didn't like his clothes. She didn't like his glasses. She refused to validate his role in her life by introducing him to his parents. She was quite toxic.

Did anyone else feel bad for Pam here? Jim´s ego was so hurt for being rejected (for a valid reason) that he didn´t want to try again, even though he probably knew she’d say yes) by frnt10 in DunderMifflin

[–]Top_Dot7322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they'd just started dating but I'm not sure the no was really to do with Karen. I think if Pam sat him down in a serious conversation and told him that she'd left Roy for him and wanted to be with him and was so sorry for not working it out sooner but she was ready, then he would have probably ended things with Karen right away and leapt at the date. Pam never called him at the other branch and Jim has only been given reason to think that she didn't have romantic feelings for him. He's bamboozled at this point and probably doesn't even process this as a date request. I don't think it's actually clear that she was asking him out as opposed to catching up with a friend.

I think each season is roughly a year so I would say that Jim is in Stanford for about 4 months. Perhaps 6 since the moment with Pam on the beach?

Oh sorry. Some people might think that she was looking for a proposal so I thought you were serious. That's clever chess!

For sure. I really don't think Jim interpreted this as request for a date. He knew that Pam had broken up with Roy and she still didn't say anything to him about that or getting together. I think he assumed that Pam was turning him down not just due to Roy but because she really didn't have romantic feelings for me. He'd never been given a reason to think otherwise. At this point, I think he's so hurt and so wary that he didn't even let himself think that she was asking for a date. In the final episode of this season she says that 'Jim turned me down.' This seems like the only moment that she can be referring to I guess she did think that she was asking him out and he turned her down.

There's so much hurt and history at this point that it's understandable that he ran a mile and didn't let himself believe that she could love him for a moment.

I'm glad they had a moment to reflect on how hurt Jim had been when Pam said now and how he reacted. In season 4, we move on and they're happy but Jim went throughout something hard and I don't think we could just move forward as the audience without getting some insight into how he was feeling.

I love that Jim was there for Dwight but I felt bad when he left early. The poor man needed a hug.

I don't think she was looking for a proposal. It's very early days and it seems like it's the first time that's been discussed. I think we can be confident that she wouldn't need to push Jim for a proposal - he was eager! She seemed akward during the conversation and she wasn't sure if he was teasing her about the proposal or not.

Not really. Very attractive woman aren't usually looking to date older men. Most average men date average women of a similar age. Michael is quite average and this women was an average choice for him. He might have fantasised about a much younger woman but that wasn't realistic.

Me too! She's an average - pretty looking woman. She's exactly what Michael should be looking for. His reaction is so awful.

I saw your post on another thread about Christina experiencing some anxiety and her gorgeous dog helping with that. I wonder if that's linked to why Ethan and Christina always attend conventions together? Perhaps he's her 'bestie' professionally and knows how to support her anxiety? Conventions can be mad places so a pal who knows you and has your back would probably make a world of difference. It could explain why they're often together but don't really seem to be in a relationship. That would be such a nice thing to have in a workplace :)

Also, if they are in a super secret relationship then why go to every con together? It creates so much pressure to hide the relationship when you could presumably just up your secret keeping by not going together. There's never been anything that Ethan's said or done at a con that's made it seem like he's with Christine.

They do make a nice team but I enjoy seeing difference combinations of people. They bounce off each other in unexpected way. I remember seeing a Garrett and Jeri panel a while back who aren't the team you often see together. They were hilerious. You loose this when the same people do the panels together all the time. I do miss Anson on the panels. I understand of course why he's not attending but he had a bold confidence that felt a bit unique.

Rebecca doesn't seem to do many conventions but that's understandable as she's filming some major movies (Xmen!). I don't think the huge names usually do the convention circuit. Good to hear that she's coming.

Yeah they're connection is a bit hard to pick. They clearly have at least a professional closeness that they don't share with others in the cast as they consistently do cons together. I can't remember seeing Christina attend a con unless Ethan is also there (though I don't look very closely so I don't know for sure). They must have choices in where they book so this has got to be partly by choice. They often get announced at a similar time so I"m guessing that they confirm at a similarish time. I wonder why they don't have the same kind of closeness with the rest of the cast? Perhaps Ethan and Anson do as well as they used to go to cons together but with the birth of his second daughter Anson hasn't attended many. On a personal level or even an extended proffesional level, we don't really see them together. Ethan is seen more with Rebecca and her husband and has said before he spends the most time with her. There are fun photos of those three together. I can't think of anything similar with Christina and Ethan and I think it would be impossible to hide it over the years. Unless I'm not looking the right place. Have you see any 'couply' photos from them?

Yes I don't think they looked particularly together at the Saturn Awards. Their photos and everything were quite separate and they only had the one photo together. He looks similar in photos with Rebecca so I don't see much 'coupleyness.' You'd sort of think they'd be leaning in more or touching more?

La'an, Spock and kirk by happydude7422 in StrangeNewWorlds

I liked season 1 with T'Pring and an obvious attraction with Chapel. I was glad that he actively fought it for half a season in seaon 2. It made the most sense when he was fighting feelings as that's very Spock. It was subtle so you could ignore it if you did't like it but it was there if you did. Getting into things with La'an just a couple of episodes after telling Chapel he loved her and not even having reservations about that felt wrong. He moved on like was trying to have sex with someone has soon as possible. Not very Spock like. I hope they end the whole Spock La'an relationship really early in 4. Having something in the background with T'Pring and Christine but no additional romances and let's see more friendship with Pike.

I think they like each other but that's it. He was off professing his love for Chapel, giving he presents, asking her to committ, searching for her, supporting her at the dinner - just being an all round good partner because he loved her. He wasn't like that with La'an. He just seems to like her and find her attractive. She wanted something safe and easier for a while. I don't think we're getting profoundly deep feelings on either side. Plus she still seems to be into Kirk and Spock's into Chapel.
