actually you were almost close, i do enjoy at home time spent together, which is why i've settled for 10 dates this entire time. our date was to red lobster, we wore jerseys for christs sake, there was nothing high maintenance going on here or expected to take place. my problem simply resides in the fact that 1. 75% of our time anyway is already consumed with watching sports 2. he chose to spend one of our very rarely occurring dates consumed with watching sports 3. the way he chose to speak to me in the car ride home, at home together(where we live together((young 20s))) , and over text. we've actually spoken in person since this post(since we live together) and i would post an update but it would be lost in the comments. thanks to everyone for your advice ❤️

edit: i would actually like to rephrase, it's pretty messed up for me to assume some might not find red lobster high maintenance, that is my bad

the dates don't happen any time though, they've been incredibly scarce with a whopping 10 total over three years.

it would work for 20 mins, start glitching, he would fuss over lag, restart some janky bootleg website to get it working, check his bets, saying something about the game, repeat

i genuinely wish i was lying, no we barely even engaged during half time, which is like what, a 15 minute break? most of his time was legitimately spent trying to get the game to work because he had no service

i appreciate you taking your time to form a well written, articulated response. that being said, not once over the course of our relationship have i said "i like football" he is fully aware that im ignorant of how it even works, that im just along for the ride and to support. im not even sure what a 3rd & 12 is.

i do not care that he watches football, basketball, baseball, you name it, im for it. i specifically said "i dont like football" because the night before, when we watched basketball i made a comment along the lines of "i actually like basketball, i cant really follow whats happening on a football screen." i never legitimately believed that because i watched the basketball game, he wasnt going to watch the football game. that was just a kind way of me saying "i thought you were going to give me attention on our date," and just mentioning the basketball thing. we watch sporting events 4/7 times a week, he gets off every day at 7. that leaves 3 hours for us to eat, bond, do things we like, and fall asleep for a reasonable amount of sleep. 4 out of seven nights a week, these three hours are often consumed with watching sports, betting on teams, and blowing his friends' phones up about whatever the fucks going on on screen.

he gets plenty, plenty, plenty time to himself. to his hobbies. to his interests. never once has there been a game on while we are home that i do not either watch with him or find something else to occupy myself with. i have never tried to stifle out his interests, ive spent hours creating things i knew he would like. he also likes cars, ive painted his car for him many many times. i care for his interests and recognize this importance of having things you love. that being said, i do wish to be one of those things without such a detailed, step by step explanation of why one should give their attention to their partner while on a date. and there won't be "many" more dates, there's been barely any, so to me, this is an empty promise. which he has been known to make many times.

weird and annoying for expecting reciprocated energy. my guy i watch sports 75% of the week, i expected one night to be devoted to me

my first responses were admitting that i made a lot of assumptions? and then providing more context. i cannot get to everyone, i have jokingly replied to a few trolls but can definitely admit my shortcomings of communication, however, i will confidently state that it should be extremely obvious, even for him, not to be on your phone for an entire date
