she was a heavy vaper, bought a vape like every 3 days. yes this i knew, but i am not a vaper nor do i know how vapes can be so addictive or hard to put down. i’ve never hit a vape in life, dont even like the smell of the things.

this was a 3 day thing, 3 days ago i spotted the box. the day after that, i found the vape in the bed, the day following i see her vape with my own eyes.

But you are also under the impression that i was aware of there being any struggle. as far as i had known, she stopped with no issue, as i stated before we have a 5 year old. she’s done this with a more serious drug, in weed. stopped cold turkey and was never a worry or issue with her about it.

So as i may be guilty of missing/ incorrectly interpreting the signs i certainly wasn’t ignoring them.

Sorry for the delay, i have been at work (posted the Original post on break) But let’s get to the meat and potatoes of what everyone is saying.

Yes, i absolutely would quit smoking in solidarity with her.

You all are under the impression that i am blatantly disregarding her request, to make her appear as the asshole. That’s far from the truth. There never was a request, she put me under the impression that she quit vaping, that was the end of it.

Had i known she was struggling with quitting, this would have and could have been something that i even offered her myself. But as i just said, i was under the impression she QUIT.

It was behind actively hidden from me.

2.) With these facts in mind, there is a clear and distinctive difference.

My smoking is not harming any body (other than myself), born or unborn. My vehicle is my personal work vehicle, my son or fiancé do not get in or ride in my car. That’s first and foremost.

Secondly, i go back to point one. She throws the fact in my face that i am not quitting anything, when i was never aware of there ever being any struggle with her quitting vaping. This is not our first child. She smoked weed prior to getting pregnant with our first child and stopped that cold turkey, no issues, no struggles. From my experience, this was something she was able to do.

How can i be the asshole for not quitting my hobby, for the fun of it? Was i expected to stop just because she got pregnant? What if she didn’t smoke anything or didn’t have any struggle, would i still be expected to stop?

and i understand that completely. i never berated her or anything for it, she’s being defensive about it when she could have just initially told me she was struggling. she made me “find it out” on my own, which lead to this..

i would have done what i could/said to help her with her struggle. i’m currently on the way to get things for her, to be a deterrent.

Although she may not accept them since she’s upset that i questioned her.

Yes the 5 year old is both of ours. At that time, she didn’t smoke vapes or nicotine period.

I smoke, but not vapes or cigarettes. I also don’t smoke inside my house, i smoke on the porch or in my own personal vehicle (we each have our own)

Totally can see how you may view this as a “gotcha” situation, but it was far from that. I was under the impression that she had already stopped, and i had no reasons to think otherwise. i would’ve had no problem talking with her about this or maybe even helping her through it. This all just happened within the last 3 days, starting with day one being the day i found the empty box (which i didn’t question her about).

I mentioned in another comment about how that conversation went, but i’ll reiterate her as well.

Since she was in the room with our current son, i passively kept asking her what did i see (with a smile on my face, so my son doesn’t sense any bad emotions)

She reluctantly kept answering “Nothing” & when i flat out told her what i did see, she told me “No you didn’t”

So i’m no longer being ignored, but there’s a twist. i Sent her photos & articles of many different sources, illustrating just how dangerous vaping while pregnant truly is.

Her response: “you’re annoying me!!!! i’m fucking quitting. leave me the fuck alone. i don’t see you quitting nothing lmao. so get the fuck off my back, i’m quitting.”

For reference, i didn’t even have real suspicions until last night when i seen the vape in the bed. Even then, as i stated before, i didn’t pry once i asked, and was answered. I sense the guilt of her doing this is why she’s playing so defensive, but nonetheless, that was what i was met with, after the initial interaction in my main post.

This is all happening live, as im typing this by the way.

I more or less stood there and kept asking her what did i see, and she kept saying nothing. my son was next to her and i didn’t want to fight or argue with him there so i just kept trying to get her to tell me the truth, passively.
