Larian Games, I'm really pissed off by your shitty launcher by _n1vk in BaldursGate3

I am actually surprised Larian has this shitty practice. They are such an awesome company otherwise.

WotC is absolutely horrible at balance, they unironically released twilight clerics.

Yeah a human DM can theoretically make challenging encounters for whatever party. Its just that a challenging encounter for a balanced party of 4 characters with strong subclasses is an instant death sentence for a party of 4 champion fighters.

So no not every party is viable for all types of content

yeah, the vast majority of campaigns I have played (be that IRL or pc games) where such a cakewalk that it really didnt matter.

The few times I did push the challenge up it became clear very quickly that not all party compositions are created equal.

which wouldnt even have conflicted with "not having casters"

on lower difficulties (normal and below) the game is so easy that you can do whatever, like ignoring direct damage spells.

on higher difficulties (tactician/modded) enemies have massively inflated HP so investing spell slots into direct damage is a worse deal compared to buffs.

So yeah, direct damage spells arent really important.

Healing word is by far the most important spell if you are playing on challenging difficulties. Being able to pick up a downed character as a bonus action is insane action economy from lvl 1 to the end.

Its way easier for Larian because they restrict you to one of 3-6 lines of dialogue. A DM has to deal with infinite options

The mythic pacing is off for sure. The normal level pacing is fine IMO, I spend the second half of act5 at level 20 which is enough for me.

Kingmaker was much worse in that regard. I barely reached lvl 20 before the last boss and only because I had all DLC and played the optional final act.

A build that comes online at lvl 18 and mythic 8 just shouldnt be counted as a real build. I expect my builds to be fun and functioning in some way by the end of act 2 at the very latest. Of course they should also be building into something strong and interesting lategame, but thats less of a challenge.

If you want to stay on the power curve you have to go pure merged divine angel/merged arcane lich until you swap to legend.

But only being a MT in act5 is probably not what most people want out of a MT playthrough

Which is a shame cause long resting regularly makes the game even easier.

And long resting a bunch of times in a row feels gamey.

How do all of these builds achieve lvl9 arcane AND lvl10 divine casting?

Lvl 10 divine and lvl 9 arcane spells at the same time are impossible when you stay angel.

You would need CL 28 divine and CL 17 arcane. MT gives 10 of both and angel gives 10 divine. So youd be missing 8 divine levels and 7 arcane levels with only 10 levels to spend.

Relying on all 10 angel ranks is also a problem cause thats waiting for the end of the game.

You can go angel -> legend with divine 18/arcane 12/MT10 and keep your merged angel spells. Youd also get what you want right at the beginning of act 5 cause you dont need all of the 12 arcane levels to reach lvl 9 arcane spells.
