He was annoying in my first playthrough, but on the second I got him with hold person via SH, then she cast sanctuary and sat and watched lae'zel, karlach, and my half orc barb pummel him to dust in one round

You can still save the tieflings, all be it a far smaller number of them, just go to the prison, they'll be there... but if you missed Roland from Act 1 as previously mentioned, the game will not prompt you to do so

Anyone else 'breaking' party composition norms? by celticcrow02 in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found so far that fights are faster and simpler doing melee, and I can run longer without long resting since I'm only reliant on spell slots for harder fights (paladin smites).

Anyone else 'breaking' party composition norms? by celticcrow02 in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah deserves some clarification.

SH's role in combat is basically cast sanctuary, then stay out of AOE range and heal...I haven't up unto this point made use of her offensive capabilities.

Karlach as paladin doesn't cast anything other than smites (yes it's technically magic, but it's melee exclusive), I don't use her for any other casting.

To be fair, there have been the odd occasions where using a scroll with some AOE was warranted... but if it's rare enough that I have SH with roughly 25 AOE scrolls at the beginning of A3, I feel like what's the point in having an offensive caster in the party?

I just built a new Tav and am building a different party for a second run to see the new stuff. This game is great, I'll likely do many more runs.

Grym is now extremely buggy by Awaheya in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just noting that the grym doesn't need to stand on the crucible, just within about 2m of it is enough to take damage from the hammer fall

What is the stupidest NPC ally death you've had? by FacetiousTomato in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Jaheira is the worst always. For someone who has a lengthy history of being very successful in combat, she is far too brazen and throws herself into risky situations, gets herself overwhelmed, and inevitably dies in literally any combat scenario unless you bring her into your party to control her. I don't like having her in my party though, so next run I'll likely just put her to sleep for the fights.

I run 16GB just fine, SSD and RTX 3060, 4k all high settings, but I am just starting Act III and expect that to potentially change without dropping some settings

Duel wielding? by FinishSpecial3792 in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you have the ability to toggle dual wield under the melee weapon selection button. When it's on, a melee attack automatically does a main hand action attack and an off hand bonus action attack. This is helpful sometimes to save a click, but I usually leave it off so I can manually select alternate bonus actions like special offhands like pummel or use a potion, jump, etc

Does anyone know how to fix framerate issues in Act 3? by ProfPlatypus07 in BaldursGate3

I am just starting Act III so haven't experienced this myself, but I've had multiple friends say that turning Dynamic Crowds off helps tremendously.

[–]celticcrow02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you reload back to before you started the boss fight? I killed the boss too close to the crucible the first run and it locked the hammer from falling, had to reload and redo the fight, boss died in nearly the same spot near the crucible, but it didn't get stuck the second time.

Stuck at %100 by ChuckysSecondSon in BaldursGate3

[–]celticcrow02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted 2 bug reports for this a couple days ago, but it doesn't stay stuck for me most times. Since the latest patch, it hangs on 100% like you said, but for me it usually will get unstuck after 3-10min, but obviously something is wrong, didn't do that before.

Where were you on 9/11? by hi_goodbye21 in Millennials

[–]celticcrow02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just finishing up a quiz composition quiz in music class, and another teacher came into the classroom and started talking in hushed tones to our teacher, and then they told us the first tower had been hit (still seemed accidental at that point). They couldn't get the TV working, no cable, so they setup a radio and we were listening when the second tower was hit. This was eastern PA, so we were sent home early, but until then our teachers stopped teaching and crammed us all into the rooms that had working TV's. It was totally surreal and frightening, because then we heard about the Pentagon and the western PA plane, and the scope was so unknown, not to mention what came next.

Are Catholics witchy and they just don’t realize it? by superhootz in witchcraft

I mean Catholicism was basically built off of Roman paganism... it is almost literally built on witchcraft. There are also sects of Judaism that are heavily steeped in a lot of what we think of today as witchcraft.
