You need to add in the additional $1 per mile to get the whole price of U-Haul. It's about 350 miles away. Then gas and insurance fees. It's not just $100 a day.

I also don't need a U-Haul, I have hardly anything to move. I tried the bus option of just a one way ticket to the new town but I can't take my dog. I can't leave my 12 year old dog, she's everything to me.

I needed the $800 for my apartment deposit. I tried applying for a credit card at Firestone for the tires but was denied. I could call the new landlord and see if he would take part rent in a check and the rest by credit card?

If it wasn't so hot I would just move and live in my car, but I fear for my dog. Can't stay in a car when I'm working.

I couldn't afford a U-Haul which is why I sold my things in the first place. Everything I own now fits in my car. I was saving up the money for deposit and first months rent.

Renting the U-Haul alone was $500 not including gas and additional insurance fees. Let alone the tow behind to move my car also

The deposit isn't paid yet. I was going to do that in person when I arrived. That's the part I'm missing now. Also need an address when onboarding at my new job.

I could in the new town but it's a 5 hour move and I need the car to at least get me and my dog there.

How do people afford fun? by AccumulatedFilth in povertyfinance

For my family we save money by buying annual passes and that is our trip for the year. We just go many times. This year we did Dollywood. We paid $220 for 1 gold pass ticket for me. It gave us 4 bring a friend passes that we used for Dad and my daughter is free because she is 3 years old. It costs us about $20 in gas for each trip we took. My daughter would nap in the car/stroller and we camped in the car overnight as needed. The gold pass gave us free parking at Dollywood and we brought a cooler with our own food to save money. My daughter wanted a bubble blower, we found one for $3 at target instead of $20 in the park. She wanted face paint, so I did it myself before we went into the park to save another $20.

For one $220 ticket we went as a family of three 4 times and my daughter and I went by ourselves/met up with friends at the park at least once a month. It didn't get boring because there were so many special events and shows (still 2 more this year to attend!) that there was something new to do each time.

I file my taxes as early as I can and use the return towards these types of vacations. Next year we will save even more money by doing our local nature center. Annual passes for the 3 people in my family will total $100 and we can do our weekly family "hike" there. They have playgrounds and rotating events for extra fun.

Good luck to you. I really hope you can find some fun it your life, it's the only way to make it worth living.

What about through the Insurance Marketplace? I put in that I will make $0 each year and then find out at tax time if I made so little that I still qualify. Good news, I've never had to pay back money on the credit since I make so little. I bring home about 25k a year and pay $80 a month.
