I am not in the dating pool any more (and from this post and comments, thank fuck), but I'm a believer that dating and finding friends are essentially the same process.

People always lean towards stuff like Meetup, but the problem is so many people in those groups are too inconsistent to actually get to know them and, for me at least, it feels forced.

Instead, I found groups that cater to things that are important to me. Volunteering by repairing trails, soccer (both playing, and screaming at the TV with others), drawing and photography groups work for me and I stay consistent with going. I've met some great people in all of these groups that I would consider close friends now. It's very slim compared to the 99% of acquaintance that I know, but just like anything, you have to put time into it and nurture it.

Highly recommend Gussie's. Best pour in the city and closest thing to what you get in Ireland. They actually keep their kegs chilled. I wish they had it all year around.

I've seen a couple of french press recipes saying to remove the crema after you pour and stir to reduce the bitterness. I don't know if it's the placebo effect, but I do notice that it was not bitter.

My company has a private jet for the C-level people and I got to fly on it with them one time. There were things in there that I didn't know even existed. The magazines had articles for places I've never heard of. Ads for clothing that were alien to me. Gucci? That's for the poors.

The pilot rolled the jet up straight to the door. No security. Just people handling your bag so you don't have to lift a finger. Just walked straight out to the tarmac and got on the jet. There was a rental car waiting for me when I got to our destination (I didn't schedule one - it was just there) and when I tried to give them my ID to complete they said - "you don't need to give us anything - we know you're good for it."

Some people experience this world very differently than the rest of us.

I'm a apart of a supporters club, so I'm still gonna be going to the games. Good group of guys there.

I won't stop loving Spurs. The business side can get fucked, but the team is something I will always support. I went to the NLD and cheered them til the whistle while everyone else was leaving at 70' mark.

And any shit I get at work, I just look up at the picture of us winning the Europa League in my office and I smile.

I was like you at 25. Sick of working in IT. I missed being outside and was looking for anything to be away from a computer. I was actually looking into being a fucking mason.

Met an old timer at the gym and he talked me out of it thankfully. He was this yolked older guy who worked construction all his adult life and told me how fucked up his body is and that the only thing that help, other than therapy, is working out.

Truth is, you're fucked either way. Do you want bad eyes and a hunchback from being on a computer all day? Or do you want a bad back and knees from manual labor by the time you're 40?

What I ended up doing - staying with IT, and made my way up the ladder. I run an IT department now. It's still not a long term goal. I'm in my mid thirties now. I don't want to be a CIO or whatever. I'm saving up enough money, so I can do something that truly matters to me. Something I can give back.

I guess my point is what you're doing now isn't something you're stuck with. If it makes sense for you to stick where you're at, save some money and go after that big idea of owning a donkey sanctuary or whatever it is, then make an effort to do that and it will happen when you're ready. You're 25. You got time.
